There’s also Jack as well. Probably enough to carry on one list
Was taking his game up another level right as he done the knee when playing the 3rd forward & 2nd ruck role, thought that role suited him well he became another big size midfielder in the contest when in dispute, added great pressure and won his share of the ball as well…

I’m also coming around to the idea of him potentially being played/trialled in defense besides concern with his leg speed and contested marking, the rest of his game along with his footy nous and competiveness might be well worth exploring…

Is it a rule players need an offer to be able to be traded? In which case if Owies doesn't have one yet, he'd need one before any trade can happen.

Generally, if players don't have any contract whatsoever, they get delisted, like Stocker

Then you have Dow, that was offered a small contract, had a better offer from the Saints (and greater chance of game time), so he was traded

And this is exactly why the offers for Owies are not coming…yet.

If clubs think there is a small chance that we don’t even offer a contract, they will be waiting for him to become a DFA.

It’s all ducks and drakes and dependent on so many other things

The way it was put to me is we need spots and have too many small forwards on one list. I think Williams moving forward and on a big deal made it more of a squeeze

Moreso the way the game has headed and is heading.

Straight up goals are less valued than ever before (an "anyone can kick them" mentality which I disagree a bit with) and pressure is an absolute must.

There's good goal scorers who just don't offer enough pressure not on an AFL list these days. That's an undisputed fact.

Think Port's happy enough with Georgiadis, Marshall and Finlayson.

Trade Lord, draft a key to develop

Yeah they have options up forward but i thought Lord WAS the key forward they've been developing.

Maybe Finlayson will be used down back if Houston goes? I don't watch them too often but IIRC he's been used as a swingman in def before.

A lot of what you mentioned doesn't really relate to Houston. We do have an issue with depth for KPDs but Houston in no way helps us with that. If anything it hinders our ability to trade for or pick up players in that draft that can play in that position. In terms of half backs we have Saad and Newman who are locks in our top 10-12 players picked each week. Then have Cowan, Boyd, Wilson who also play that HB/BP role - I personally have Cowan/Boyd in my early best 23 for next season. Then on top of that we have O.Hollands who played well at HB in the last few matches of this season.

If we can get Houston for a reasonable deal I am all for it - he is obviously a quality player. But compromising our ability to hit the draft or trade for other pieces that actually fill required positions (i.e., small forward, outside midfielder, key position defender) just to bring in another star that doesn't fill a real positional need doesn't make sense to me.
I'm aware he isn't a KPD. I pay attention to all the posts and also google!😛

I got into more generally how our defence is looking.
You make a good point, but to get durable quality in...real talent ...it's gonna lift all the backs. I would hope we are already developing a KPD.. maybe we'll get a moneyball back up for thus year, and draft someone.
It should not preclude us having a red hot crack at Houston..and a chance to play prelim into a GF.
I do not want to watch another team take advantage of his talent.
Ww shouldn't be too stubborn.
