I would prefer to get someone through the door this year (Oliver or Wines), than wait for the possibility that Kelly or Merrett nominates us next year. We are on a good run this year with Williams and Saad wanting to come here that we can’t expect everyone who is OOC will want to come here.
Damn tootin' ! Always jump on the opportunity while it's there, you never know what will happen next year.

That AFL.Com.au trade tracker from last week looks like it was on point.

With the whole Jeremy Cameron to Geelong thing.

And if it was right you know that the whole thing is a sham... Knowing it weeks out.

Gotta hand it to the Cats...lost Tim Kelly who was a gun mid for them yet are in the Grand Final and now are able to transfer his money to Jeremy Cameron.

Just goes to show no single player is bigger than the club and losing 1 gun player doesn't mean you're screwed...Hawks won three premierships after Buddy left, Doggies after Griffen their captain bailed.

Transfer what money? He was on draftee wages

Kelly was on bugger all at cats.

A marking medium forward?

If he had more midfield/ballwinning chops, I'd be interested, but to this point he's a version of Billings that doesn't get as much ground ball as he should for his size.

He could be the 3rd tall that plays 80% forward/20% midfield.

Allows Cripps to rest forward for 20% of the game.

Can confirm that I saw Clayton Oliver and Simon Goodwin in deep conversation at an inner Melbourne public park today... couldn't read much into the body language but given the circulating rumours I thought it was worth posting.

I’d get it if the meeting was last week but you’re allowed to have people over to your house now, why wouldn’t they have met at Oliver or Goodwin’s house?

Pretty decent line-up at * next year:

Sam Walsh in the Saad trade
Connor Roezee in the Fantasia trade
Harris Andrews in the Daniher trade

Do you consider Grimes a key position defender?

At a pinch, which he has shown when Balta or Astbury haven't been in the side. Grimes has a better mix of Speed/leap/aggression than any of our 3rd talls.

Thanks for that insightful contribution to the discussion.

Given you've failed to offer anything substantial to the contrary, I'll continue to hold the opinion that Weitering, Jones, Plowman, Marchbank, Casboult, Macreadie, McGovern and JSOS would all be capable of playing on various tall and medium forwards.

No argument from me that Weiters and Jones do it best...that's why they're starting in the 22. But if one of them was injured, we have enough options to field a backline capable of holding its own against most forward lines. In the same way that Richmond losing Rance for an extended period discovered that they had players pencilled into other roles who were actually capable of more.

Do you really need me to outline why, outside Jones, Weitering and Levi, our 3rd tall defender options would struggle to playing on the taller KPF's of the competition?

I think Port have withdrawn from the race for Crouch.

I wouldn't call anything involving Adelaide midfielders a 'race'.

Perhaps Port have withdrawn from the meander for Crouch?

Except I've seen nothing from him that makes me think he's any real midfield chops. Yet another triumph of manner over substance.

Cameron to cats.... What does this mean For Crouch? Surely the cats can't fit them both in their cap?

Does Crouch head to Port? Direct replacement for Wines?

Can you please red card anyone who refers to anyone other than Alex Jesaulenko as Jezza?

;)

My * supporting buddy has a footy-mad son called Jeremy. I deliberately call him Jezza at every opportunity. It drives my buddy crazy. It's awesome.

At least

It's a spy thing. Everyone knows that clandestine meetings are held at pre-arranged park benches.

The Giants might end up with 2 of the Geelong picks. We might have to try and split pick 7 with them. I don't think any other teams with a pick before us will be looking to trade down.
