If we can get our medicos to sign off on Treloar and pies to pay $300k a year we would be remiss to not at least seriously look at it

He’s going to be 28 prior to Round 1 and that would be a pass if it was a straight up trade but if Collingwood foots a large position of the yearly bill and we get it down to $500k a year, it’s something to seriously consider.

Not really. He wants to stay, why does it benefit him to take less money and move to a different club when he’s happy where he is?

I don’t see any way it makes sense for him to take a pay cut

Last I read his beloved football club was very happy to kick him out the door. Any door.....

Join the dots.

Of course, if Oliver's in the door this year or next or a Kelly or the like end of 2021, all bets are off.

But a low ball offer (3 years + options) + low ball money (our tip in $550-600k, Pies whatever they can sort with AT) + low ball pick - 16.

Would (or could?) any other club else offer better?

If the Pies are in that much of a pickle, squeeze 'em hard.

And we retain 2021 1st....

It should be on Collingwood to foot the bill. They're the ones kicking Treloar out with another FOUR years to go on his contract!

EDIT: FIVE YEARS
Not even remotely interested in Treloar but I think we should look at Phillips especially if we have lost faith in Obrien, a left footed wing would be a need assuming we aren’t going to play Willo there and Phillips would be a really good choice and might be able to get Pies to pay some of his wage if they are looking for genuine cap relief.

I see both Jed Lamb and Sam Kerridge on site occasionally.

Is Sam aiming for the site next door?

Could be like Iguodala from GSW to grizzlies. The contract was so bad they had to send a first round pick with it to get him off their books. Surely something equivalent may need to happen at Collingwood.

Uh, FIVE years

Yeah that's a crazy contract and I can't see anyone taking it on. The guy's body is letting him down now - how well is he going to be playing in 5 years time when his backended contract has him paid $900k?

As good as he might be if he can get back to his best for a year or 2 Collingwood is stuck paying out the bulk of that contract even if he leaves. And rightly so.

Or he stays (which I think is 90%+ possibility).

On trade radio earlier today someone said GC would trade pick 5 for him which has got to be one of the stupidest things they've ever said (high bar there). It's a salary cap dump. What did Hawthorn give up for Patton / Scully / etc.? Nothing. Likewise Collingwood won't get anything back even if they can trade him out - except some salary cap relief.

I really think people are getting their knickers in a knot over Saad and Pick 7 and are going hang Austin before he's even started.

If we get something reasonable coming back then get the deal done and let's see what other deals we get over the line and then assess the trade period as whole.

I did. You didn't.

Stop fixating on the term of current contract and the current $$$.

Offer the bloke a solution (to the current predicament) and a potential tilt at a flag.

He'll take less coin and agree to different terms.

Whats interesting to me, is Collingwood are purposely pushing a contracted player out the door, he has a deal for $900,000 supposedly, they make it known they don’t want him, which makes it very hard for Adam to go back and get what he’s entitled, he explores his options and finds that no other club will match his current deal.

Hes within his rights to go back and not accept a trade but how likely is that and what pressure does it out on him, his team mates would then view him as a reason why they can’t contend, all of this leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I hope they are forced to pay a large chunk.

If I was Treloar I’d pick the Blues obviously and then we could tell them we will pay $600,000 and you pay the rest, take that or pay Adam his full whack. If they accept, Treloar could always renegotiate his Carlton portion of his deal and Collingwood would still have to pay.

There will be teams that are willing to pay the $$$ and trade but he might not want to play there, stuff the Pies in this one, really poor stuff.

I'd love to get another big name recruit to the club, but if we don't I'm still very excited by our young draftees from the last few years.
I've just got a feeling that a few of them will click and we'll see a big improvement next year.

I think we have invested a lot into all these young players and its just a matter of time before we start seeing the gains.

If it is true, could it end up being that Port give Ess pick 26 for Fantasia, and then we give Ess pick 7 for Saad and pick 26? That's the equivalent points of pick 20.

I'm not saying that's what I want to happen but that seems to be roughly what Sam Edmund is suggesting.

Someone that wants out of a poor cultural environment?

Is that the case though? Treloar stated that he wants to stay at Collingwood.
If he's pushed out the door though, it's Treloars call. He can dig his heels in and there's nothing Collingwood could do.

It's bad enough being pushed out but to be pushed out and then accept less money elsewhere, is a kick in the teeth, no one would want.
He may have set up investments based on his contract and now he 'has to' re-work his life?

Anyway, if it was me, I'd say **** You to Collingwood and stay put.

We could then maybe package picks 26 and 27 to the Bulldogs for pick 12.
