As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Maybe I've missed something -

What is it exactly that SOS has said in regards to Cripps, that is clearly out of line.
I haven't heard anything that remotely rests on it being something that should not be said.

I don't care to hear the idea of Cripps leaving us and he won't but - There has been speculation about Merrett, about Wines, about Oliver....
Is it that an ex-Carlton person should not be discussing issues about the club he has not been a part of for the best part of a year?
There have been some great insights about our LM strategy coming from SOS.......or at least for me. The fact there's a couple of things we don't want to hear doesn't discredit the rest. As I said - Maybe we have to take the good with the bad.....can't have it one way only.

I don't know SOS but I get him and maybe that makes it just a little easier to skim over things I may not, with others.

He can say whatever her wants, Harks.

But if he knows Cripps has absolutely no intention of leaving, and chooses to suggest it anyway for the sake of more air time, then you can bet your arse Cripps would be annoyed about it.

For that matter, if it's true and Cripps had told him in confidence, he'd probably also be pissed at SOS for breaking that confidence for the sake of more air time.

I'll repeat - he can say what he wants. But what he chooses to say will have consequences in how people feel about him. His call to make.

SOS's knowledge of Crippas view are 12 months out of date, aren't they? Might not be the current view?

The position SOS spoke about was the one Cripps clearly communicated to the club when signing his current contract which would have been a couple of years back now.

Of course it could have now changed. I really don't see why people have any issue with what SOS said.

As an ex-employee he can do and say whatever he likes and I don't believe that it would have worried Cripps one little bit. He's in the media, he will pass comment on things and he will be asked Carlton centric questions. No big deal.

SOS is loyal to whoever is paying him and that is fair enough, it makes perfect sense.
Loyalty is one thing but honesty should be nonnegotiable

How has he been dishonest? There's nothing in whatever he has said that says to me he's being dishonest.

SOS has never cared much about how people feel about him, he won't lose sleep over it I'm sure.

I don't know how you'd do that though.
Sure we'd get something back from Collingwood, but do we want 5 years?

Treloar will still want his ~900K over whatever the course of the new contract may be.
Trim a year or two off that and the cost may yet still be around the 900K mark to us and again preclude us from looking at players next year, when we'll know a lot more about our squad.

Way too big a risk. I wouldn't look at it regardless of what may come back from Collingwood.....unless they paid half the contract....which they wouldn't do.
That would completely defeat the purpose of what they're trying to do.

Of course you wouldn't offer him 900k + 5 years. Or anything close.

You might offer him $600k x 3 year + 1 + 1 option (meeting triggers).

And the Pies square him for for whatever else (that's between them).

I'll let someone else confirm this, but Cripps told the club something early this year.
His situation may have well changed since then.

SOS may not be at the club, but any info is just a call away for him.

Hi mate,
I've no issue with anything that SOS has said to date nor his right to say it.
My comment was in response to someone questioning Cripps potentially getting his nose out of joint over SOS' comments over PC's future at the club being dependent on finals footy next year.
If Cripps has discussed this sort of thing, I can understand him feeling aggrieved if SOS has then opted to broadcast a private discussion to the larger community .

That said, as with just about everything SOS related over the past 12 months, there's a lot of ifs, buts & maybes in the mix, none of us can really know for sure - it's why I've found being Team Liddle or Team Silvagni hard to fathom, as there's very little concrete info available but no shortage of opinions.

As much as I didn't like his recent flamimg of Cain Liddle, anyone who thinks that Steve Silvagni isn't still a very proud and passionate Carlton man through and through is greatly mistaken.

Also we all know there is a lot of bollocks and things blown out of proportion said on Trade Radio, it's part and parcel of how Hutchy and Croc (of ****) media operates.

It's designed to cause controversy and yes inflame/outrage footy fans, it is what it is.

Don't be one of those suckers who take whatever is spoken there all the time at face value/seriously :)

I would think it's pretty obvious that Cripps would, indeed should, reassess his options if we don't make some significant ground this year.

Seven seasons in and yet to play a final. 120 or so games and spent exactly one week in the eight. I don't understand what people are being so hyper-sensitive about.

Cripps is a bona fide gun. He is our captain. Every time he's on the field and/or is interviewed, he smacks of a person who bleeds blue. Losing Cripps would be huge so I can't speak for everyone else, but as a Blues supported I'd be devo if he goes.

Plenty of players historically played for one club with liitle success.
R. Flower a classic example.
It's something that garners respect more than chasing glory.

So... I had to call the club because there was a problem with my membership renewal. I spoke with a Nick, who I naturally assume was Nick Austin.

I asked him if I could get Clayton Oliver’s picture on my card next year. His response was ‘haha that’s be nice wouldn’t it!’.

I’m no ITK but there was a tone in his voice that made me feel he knew more than he was letting on. so I say Clarry to be a blueboy 2021. Lock it in the Bank!!

Dodo just won't be able to sell a rebuild to * supporters, hence why they are targeting an age range of players such as the Dunkley boys, Caldwell and some older types like Ross.

While they still have a number of decent kids, most of their better players are on the wrong side of 27

This has North/Crows of a few years ago, all over it
The problem Essenscum face is it’s taken DoDo what 4-5 years to try and get a big bodied mid and if they get that this year all good and well but what the hell are they going to do up forward next year and beyond, then you look at there key backs in Hurley and Hooker who are both the wrong side of 30, KP players, at least really good ones, don’t grow on trees so what are they going to do live in hope that DoDo will find them what 3 KP players to trade in, as above it took him 4-5 years to find a big bodied mid what hope have they got of 1 KP player of any quality? Not much imo so they are in for a world of hurt and there list demographic isn’t geared for long term success it’s now or never and frankly for that list it’s never.

Saints supporters generally have pretty mixed views on Ross. He's an accumulator, but not a guy who will really hurt you over the course of a game, like peak Tom Mitchell or current Jack Macrae (or even current Sam Walsh do). Just kind of bobbles around the ball without doing a hell of a lot. I can see why he'd be on the outer at St Kilda, with Ratten playing a pretty efficient gamestyle. I'm always skeptical of players who dominate statistically while the team is struggling, and their possession counts often point to wider issues.

I dunno what our Cap looks like, but if we copped the whole contract we could probably get him for pick 27 is Collingwood are that set on him going.

We are completing for a flag from now, a 27 year old top 30 mid for a second rounder might be worth the risk.

He can break away from center bounces and kick goals.

Also his awful kicking would make Dow feel good about himself.

I agree with you. I'm not team anyone in this case. My loyalty belongs with the club, none of the individuals. I am less of a fan of SOS than some people here are but I can still see when people are getting their noses out of joint for no reason.

Those comments by Cripps were known broadly already by a lot of people, it's been an open secret.
Cripps told others, not just the club. SOS isn't dumb, he knows what he can say and what he can't.
