Just goes to show though...Richmond stuffed up first round picks with Lennon, Ellis & giving us 19 for Yarran who didn't play a game in the years just before their premiership run. They found winners at later draft picks, trade and mainly culture/game plan to enter an era of dominance.

No to McCarthy because he doesn't work hard enough and isn't professional...which is why Longmuire cut him along with Hogan and Matera.

Richmonds premiership team had 7 players that were picked up by them, but not via the National Draft.
Baker, Short, Castagna, Lambert, Grimes Houli & Pickett. It would have been 8 if Soldo was available.

Do they have the best talent in the league or the best buy-in to a system?

Yeah, that's just from wikipedia, which is currently wrong.
Most likely it will start on Wednesday 9th, but as yet no confirmation.
Ok cheer. Don't mind that, closer to the weekend at least.. Monday night would be pretty boring.

Seems to have several issues of which desire and application are at the top of the lacking list. Freo board mentions an issue with epilepsy and medication as well.

That can also be an indication of trauma to the brain. Has he taken many knocks or heavy blows?

He's quite quick actually, and he's not even developed through the hips yet.

The 2nd half of the year he was indeed one of our best kicks.

Just watch, this bloke is now 6'2 and capable of playing inside, outside, can get forward, can mark, can kick, runs both ways and arguably has the best tank in the league already. Not to mention his mental strength to never ever drop his head. All at the age of 20. Enjoy the ride, I like Dow but he will not get close to Mr Walsh.
Ok who are you and what have you done stealing Windows’ go to move here Buddy?

There’s only room enough for ONE over the top Walsh lover on this board...

Cant be tolerated IMO...he needs to improve if he's to get games in the AFL team.

It also infuriates me...that real intent to apply defensive pressure to even get a finger on the ball carrier or even just perceived pressure is required to be a top team and win big games like finals. Watching the top teams like Richmond, some people somehow manage to not rate them despite them winning 3 premierships in 4 years...what they do really well is every player runs hard and closes the opposition down, making them hard to score against. You can't have any weak links as even just 1 player not doing their bit can allow the opposition to break through the defensive structures and score. This doesn't take any real 'talent', just determination, intent and fitness.

Dow too often just jogs alongside/behind the ball carrier...the stats might count it as defensive pressure but the eye test says he made no real impact to negatively affect the disposal or even better win a holding the ball free kick.
It’s really simple with Dow: presently he ‘can’t run’. I haven’t seen him out of the bottom 10 percent of endurance runs since he joined the club.

This has to change. At the moment he HAS to choose between offensive and defensive running because he simply can’t do both.

I dearly hope he’s doing a power of running already. Time will tell. Windows will be watching Paddy....watching and reporting...

I think his contested ball work is fantastic.
For mine there aren't too many better at the club when it comes to inside craft.

Edit: Also has terrific vision in tight and an ability to get the ball to team mates via hand. And of course, that burst of pace from the contest which very few have, and from which the comparisons to Dangerfield arise.

Dow? He has the talent. That's unquestionable and the nickname Paddy Wow didn't come about for no reason, via his first pre-season.

I didn't get to as many training days as usual then, given Bolton kicked me out, but what was on display at times was something Dangerfield-like and no other player on the list could do what he could do. His explosion out of the centre threw the back-line into disarray.

Dow has to come on, but in different ways, we're going to get something similar with Saad and Williams.
I won't cover that ground because JustaBattler put if forward better than I could. It was a very good post that emphasised that one or two of the right types can change the dynamic of the whole.

Then it is a No. Who is the best mature age full forward in the VFL

Pretty sure this was already posted, but FMD - 5th, really? Port get Aliir x 2 and Fantasia - 3rd. Cats trade 3 firsts for Cameron and are above us (arguably their ins are considerable, though). Crouch and Higgins are okay, but Williams and Saad are far greater inclusions - St Kilda 2nd?

Can't argue with Dogs at #1 for picking up Treloar for cheap and getting Martin cheap to help English. Not a clear runaway winner though.

I'd have had us close 2nd tbh but then again, I'm fairly biased.

Yeah I don’t get the port 8.5/10. Aliir and Fantasia are shit footballers. Fogarty ranks higher. The other two inclusions for us are A graders. Geel fair enough to tie but have away a **** load for 28 year old that had a shit year. Could be downhill from here for him. He’s not got the size to smash his defensive opponents. Weitering and jones will smash the pair at geelong. Happy for saints (just) and dogs ahead of us but st. Kilda could still **** it up from here. Theyve topped up too soon like the bombers in 2017/18. Crouch won’t add anything but slowing down their midfield movement. Higgins is shit and has the body of a 3rd grade local footballer.

You’re a comedian. Neither get a kick at carlton. Fantasia lol. Hasn’t played a gd game of footy since 2017. Aliir I’ll give you but still doesn’t improve port. They’ve got plenty like him.

You're kidding yourself

Aliir and Fantasia would improve any of the 18 clubs
