Allir - Perfect for Port, given the lack of height they had down back.
They did the right thing, but there were some question marks around him from some Sydney people.
Anyway, he's straight into their best team. Smart recruiting.

It was also very astute trading. By trading out their future second meant that it took their future first off the table for Fantasia. Smart play by the Port LM team

They did it well.
Knew what they wanted and knew how to get it.

You can't do more than that.

I'm still not convinced by Allir. Port play a super rigid defence, they've got key defenders who are very good at defender one-on-one, and rebounding defenders with neat kicking skills - Allir's a bit of an anomaly in there. He's got a lot of athleticism, but defensively he probably only breaks even. Also pretty hit and miss coming out of defence with his footskills and/or decision making.

Has had ample opportunity at Sydney over the past few years, but still doesn't strike me as a guy you can set and forget on. Could either see him coming into Port's lineup and refining his game, or being out of the system in a couple of years.

Even trade for both sides, but it's been sold as a bit of a resounding win for Port. I'm not super convinced.

I like Allir, I think he'd be a better lock down defender than Plowman and would allow Weitering to play loose and use his intercept marking more.

Wouldn’t have been impressed if we gave up a 2nd. Backup required, that would have been overpaying for our current circumstances.
DFA Daw would be more palatable on our picks with the same versatility. Jury out on his injuries though.
I’d say it’s a distinct possibility that Daw is in Navy Blue next year, we need back up and Daw gives us this in multiple areas and is the perfect DFA for our needs.

While I am not overly keen on Daw, it does give us short term security, especially if we are trying to break into finals and give Macreadie another year

I’m with DJ on this one. I’ll give you a fit Fantasia, if there ever is one. Aliir is flawed, does some good things but Swans let him go for a reason. I can see why an undersized Port want him, but absolutely does not make “any“ team better.
Swans let him go because they know they are taking Grainger-Barrass with there first pick in the draft and he will play from rd1 next year as there interceptor. Bastards

Posters have to relate to the fact that we will have to delist more players to take picks at the draft. Surely with questions still over our small forward stocks and
the lack of ruck support, we will take one each of these. We don't have the list spots to realistically entertain DFA types.

In an ideal world we would engage "insurance" for our (particularly defensive) talls. Lists are reducing and may be reducing further in the future, we need
to establish our depth, as well as taking a shot at finding a viable genuine small forward. Our draft picks do not realistically give us a KPD target, but are in
the right range for rucks and forwards. There are plenty of viable options for both positions in this pool. Getting comparative estimates on the small forwards
is why we pay our recruiters the big bucks.

I am not in favour of taking short term gain back ups over long term prospects. With TDK and Pitto fighting out for number one ruck and Levi providing adequate back up, I would prefer Walsh, Neale, Lane or Heath as developing types who would become break glass in '22 should Levi be passed over after
next year, before being viable alternatives in '23.

There are plenty of small forward options. Not necessarily my preference, but we are in to James Rowe reportedly. Leading goalkicker in the SANFL this
year as a 20-yo. Definitely more exposed form. If there is a knock it is that he is not known as a defensive type.

There's been talk about picking up Cam McCarthy as a DFA in other threads, what are your thoughts? I think if we can get him for free he only makes our worst players better, being a replacement for Moore. Averaged 1.4 goals a game across his career, and only 25 years old. Also able to pinch hit in the ruck too.

Not sure we need to add another tallish to that we’d have to have a horrific run of injuries. Also don’t be surprised if Calebs position changes next year. Can see him playing as a forward or on the wing.
