I agree, I wrote this in a now closed Bluemour thread last week.

He’s also been severely hindered by how wide and forward of the ball the coach has the other midfielders spreading. Where he used to win a hard ball and have teammates by his side to hand it to, now he has to win it against multiple opponents then look up and find a teammate that has run a mile in front of him.

This has proven for over a year now to be very hard to get back to defence when it goes wrong and also easy for teams to pulverise us in clearances just by getting numbers close to the ball such as the North Melbourne game (22-9 for centre clearances in North’s favour). Comments by the coach like “we got beaten in the contest” after the Hawks game last year make it sound like the players lowered their colours and doesn’t acknowledge how easy his game plan is to shut down.

This was pointed out by a scribe during the year, and may have been Ross himself. Playing wide does not play to our strengths, particularly Crippa's. We had to narrow the field is what he said.

Has Teague tried to implement a game plan our side isn't built for, just as Malthouse did when he first came, and did he do it on the back of recruiting the likes of Saad and Williams?

Because it's ridiculous to think that it's always going to be a binary case of Teague being fit for the job or not.

Teague may have shortcomings that can be addressed in time, but those shortcomings cease to exist if you replace him with Clarkson. Take the immediate upgrade if available, if not then persist with development of the incumbent.

It'd be like delisting SPS in the hopes we could replace him with Cerra, and then when Cerra falls through having to settle for Luke Dunstan.
In that case you will have to give Teague a contract extension because no assistants will come for 1 year and I don't think he warrants a new contract. Get rid

Trading in a player like Lions did with Brams as part of their strategy

Again, has nothing to do with finishing positions or trading
You can put many metrics on how you determine what year a club started their rebuild, the facts and history is there.

Hawthorn
2001- Two first round picks
2002- One first round picks
2003- 0 first round picks

2001- Two second round picks
2002- 0 second round picks
2003- 1 second round pick

2002 traded in a 26 year old ruckman, using pick 6 and 22
2002 traded in a 27 journeyman, using their 3rd round pick

The Hawks finished 3rd in 2001, 11th in 2002 and 9th in 2003, they weren’t rebuilding, they thought they were contending, the team they picked shows that, 3 first round picks, 3 second round picks in three years, isn’t the drafting of a rebuilding club.

Well the whole media circus now has it we’re waiting on Clarko, board split on Lyon and Teague will coach on despite being 3rd choice by half the board. Though some still think he’s goneski.

Whispering campaign against Lyon by Liddle’s camp ramping up with a few jabs thrown in by his ex-manager & Teagues current manager.

If Sayers thinks a letter cuts it in this Media environment he maybe shouldn’t be president. Should have had a quick presser to reiterate the message and that we will not be running a commentary in the media until decisions had been taken. Hope he’s not another MLG comms wise.

Not hard to believe that Lyon may have poisoned the well a bit with his commentary. Even if he was just being candid, he's encouraged (deliberately or accidentally) a narrative that Teague was already on the way out and that he was really keen for the job and had the backing of Influential Carlton People.

That's incidentally contributed to the heat on Teague, and by extension the club. May have ruffled feathers.

Those comments were only made a week ago though. The heat has been on for months. Lyon did fairly well batting this stuff away while Caro and Eddie pressed him every week.

Tom Morris on OTC tonight. (paraphasing)
The full board are on the same page with Clarkson. He's coach if he accepts. But board split over Lyon & Teague. Some board members are unhappy with Lyon's tenure at Freo, in his last few yesrs & also looking at his sexual harassment incident and believe it goes against their club Respect to Women policy.
Possible Teague may survive. Know in a few days

I wonder how our hitouts to advantage compare over these periods.
It's the follow up at ground level one -- and pittonet has a habit of hitting it into open space sometimes just hacking off the ground for giggles -
You play cripps with a natanui and see the difference -- hopefully the volley baller turns into a sandilands

Liddle doesn't need to go. He just needs to be reeled in. I think Sayers can definitely make sure of that.

If the bloke needs a chief to reign in the scope of his executive officialdom, a suggestion with which I also agree, then it’s reasonably clear CFC needs a far more accomplished CEO than the current incumbent.

Well if there was any doubt about Teague leaving then Pickering just cleared that up. You simply don't throw that grenade, accurate or not, at the captain of the club.

What an extraordinary outburst. It’s all well and good for him to do absolutely anything for his clients - Franklin - but god forbid clubs or players managed by others do what they determine to be in their best interests.

Clubs can’t black list agents, but after those comments I’d be certainly wary about how many players of his are on the books.

Pick
Pickers reputation going to take a dive in industry on back of these last few days.
The sour grapes side of him is an ugly look for his profession to have people want to choose him as their manager going forward.
Remember Pickering was taken to court and lost due to his lack of ethics in leaving his previous employees and taking all of their clients.

Even let Buddy's contract expire prior to him leaving before recontracting days after starting his own business.

If true it’s a mess on all fronts unless Clarko says yes.

How a club uses draft picks isn't indicative of not being in a rebuild if they trade them for players

Lions gave up 1st and 2nd rounders for Beams and Neale, during their rebuild phase
