We all know that and Ross has admitted as such regarding the NDA. I've posted this before but if what he did was so egregious and wrong, why was a settlement taken? It would be easy to question the motivations of someone who takes money rather than wants justice/due process, but this is something none of us will ever truly know full details about. I harp, but one also has to ask how come he was cleared by two bodies, one internal and the other official and external, if what he did is so bad that he shouldn't be considered for future coaching roles.
You could also make the case that she didn't want her name in public and thought a settlement was better than going through the mental hardship of going public. The public criticism would be immense. You see it all the time with women trying to hold athletes accountable, there's always a large section of people who will defend the athletes no matter what and will send all kinds of abuse there way.

I agree with a lot of that. There is also the other side of the coin where people try to exploit high profile people for money, because rightly or wrongly things can tarnish people's reputations, regardless of the truth or severity. I walk a fine line here because there will almost certainly be swathes of people lining up to accuse me of victim blaming etc etc, but the truth is I have personally supported people on either side of the isle.

What we do have to go on as fact though, is that Ross has never been charged or officially sanctioned for anything. The scuttlebutt is that he would not have fared well in our process from the outset and hence pulled out. The less people we source/interview for the job, the higher likelihood that we end up with a coach that wasn't best available. That's the crux of the issue for me.

I also agree with that, I don't believe that settling is an admission of guilt. Sometimes it genuinely is easier and/or better to cop the short term cost to avoid a public case, or risking a trial, as you never truly know which way a jury will swing no matter how innocent/guilty you are.

I don't believe that should be the default position, however. Generally speaking supporting the potential victim should be the natural position.

Surely Brad Scott as Chief Football Officer reporting directly to board is a good balance between our need for a steady hand and his reluctance for the coaching limelight?

If Scott wants an administrative role he'll just take the football ops gig at the AFL. Its a better job then any club level football manager type role. If he comes to Carlton it will be as senior coach.

The thought of having Kingsley, giansiracusra, yze as senior coach excites me more than Voss, Lyon or scott. Young coaches with fresh ideas and a real hunger. Get the football dept sorted and give them the proper assistance they need to flourish. Our club has been bad at this for many years. Time to change the script

That's ambiguous.

Either Hewitt has indicated a preference, and it's Carlton because Carlton had interest.

Or

Hewitt has indicated a preference, and nobody knows, but Carlton was interested.

Does Tom Browne do English?

He has mastered the statement that allows him to claim he was right, whatever happens.

Bit like Terry Wallet when he had a profile...

Er what's caused that...
Movements like that can happen when a bookmaker has a sharp bet on a fragile market. Or, they (The trading team) could simply be trying to provoke some movement. I'd say the latter is more likely here - punters see $3.50 in from $20 and think it must be a sure thing, and that $3.50 is still great value at that point. They jump on it, and lose.

Source - I worked for an Australian bookmaker, they are scum.
