really not keen on Mitchell.

older, slow and doesn’t add anything to defensive structures.

if you must trade 6, get someone’s future first ++ or live trade on the night.
Tom Mitchell averaged 34.3 disposals, 4.8 clearances, and 4.9 tackles a game this year. Carlton had negative differentials in each of these areas. Tom Mitchell is 28, 29 next season; for reference, he is younger than Nic Newman, Jack Newnes and Liam Jones.

Tom Mitchell is a stat crab, certainly, but you are missing the point if you think Tom Mitchell winning the ball and giving it to players like SPS, LOB, Walsh, Durdin, Dow, Stocker, Saad, Williams will not result in a better coherence and transition from midfield to forward. Mitchell has spent the entirety of his career playing for Longmire and Clarkson; do you truly think that those two coaches would continue to have him accumulate and dominate a game if he had zero impact?

Would rather Cerra/Hewett over Mitchell.
Definitely 👍
Cerra improves F50 connection
Hewett improves defensive running & grunt

Mitchell runs around in circles most weeks, often doesn’t gain metres and doesn’t offer what the other 2 can which is more of a priority.

And Im a bit confused with the trade offers being put up for Mitchell. He is the best player in that team and a Brownlow winner - one first will not be even close to what's required.

We need midfield balance also. Cripps & Curnow need outside hurt factor and defensive running around them.

Mitchell may not be the right fit.

Our offers to Freo need to go in this order (if we consider splitting 6)

1- pick 14 & Fisher
2- pick 14 & SPS
3- pick 14 & McGovern
4- future first
5- pick 6 (no split)
Wow, you rate Gov a lot higher (and Fish a lot lower) than I do but that is the wonder of trade hypotheticals

Yeah but he is out of contract wouldn’t they take a low ball instead of letting him walk?

l think if you look at history most clubs that lose a quality player get well compensated, Melbourne don't have the capacity to do this.
Cerra's management would be advising to pick a club that is capable of facilitating a fair trade.
He also may find it difficult to break into the Demons midfield.

I have a good feeling about the next two weeks. It’s going to be good to be a Bagger again.
I agree. I have a feeling a few dominos are going to start falling and excitement will start building.

Cook first
Clarkson or Pyke named next
Cerra nominates Carlton
Hewett nominates Carlton
We get a few good assistant coaches

Great. But there is a thing called a salary cap and draft picks. I agree with others he isn't worth it, would prefer Walsh and Cripps in those hit zones who are more damaging.

I don’t disagree. But the issue is our core has coalesced around Walsh/weitering and I don’t think two years of good mitchell moves the needle IF he comes at the expense of significant draft capital.

Take a good hard look at my post.

Well. Have you done it?

No? Well, ****ing get on with it! Hurry up!

Do you see the words 'salary' or 'draft picks' in that post???

I am not replying to the claim that he'd be expensive. If that was the claim, I would not be objecting to it. What I am objecting to is the idea that he is not a good player or would not be a good addition.

Do you think, before posting next time, you could bother reading the post you're quoting to ensure that what it's saying doesn't shoot in one ear and out the other?

Tumours floating around Geelong that a big announcement will happen today..

My tip is Joel Selwood will retire but could be the coach…
that's two vastly different choices he has...........

I get that. I don't want us necessarily trading pick 6 for Cerra, either; we need KPP's more than we need another young midfielder, let alone Mitchell who has a definitive timeline on his career who has had injury issues that take him out for long periods of time. But the idea that he wouldn't be an improvement over Ed Curnow, Zac Williams, and the assortment of others we've run through there not named Cripps or Walsh is genuinely incorrect.
