How do you know? Have you personally witnessed how they communicate with players? Could you please give me a detailed analysis of each of their game plans and vision for the Carlton side? I'd really appreciate some more substance.

We have such a messiah complex at Carlton. I'd prefer a younger, ready to go senior coach over a coach whose been to the top of the mountain and might need a refresh
yep - I'd rather the next clarkson than a cooked or disinterested one..........

Sam Walsh for 18 years.

Unfortunately I can't see Sam, nor his management Phoenix, entertaining signing on until at least mid 2022 to see how things are going with the club.

yeah, really get that feeling from sam............

yep, its down to 4 candidates expect a result in just under 2 weeks
So the coach will have a day or 2 to talk to free agents and 4 or 5 to try and get trades going.

Excellent, I've always thought a coach that needs more than 10 minutes to get a handle on their own teams abilities and personalities then identify the players they would like to bring in are rubbish.

So when Hawthorn appointed Clarko above Eade and Wallace, was that an example of "training wheels"?

All coaches have to start somewhere. Just because you've internalised the pigheaded Carlton mentality doesn't mean you're right
Spot on. Not to many experienced coach’s have gone on and wind premierships in the last 10 years

The coach isn't the only person involved in that.. we have list management, performance and assistants that are already well aware of what players are capable of what.

I don't think it's a massive issue. Doubt we're looking at significant changes to the list given that we clearly feel we have one capable of much more than its shown to date.

Hewett a bit of a no-brainer, seems the type every coach is happy to have at their disposal. Fills an obvious need as a defensive-leaning mid. Free agent.

Cerra a no-brainer, quality player, balanced mid with very good disposal. Cost may be an issue, but that's not usually something the coach is going to involve themselves with. Pick 6 = 21yo quality mid or 18yo hopefully quality mid, toss a coin in the eyes of most coaches.

Delistings come off the bottom of the list, not likely to have a new senior coach come in and demand that Boyd or Cottrell or whoever be retained. Plus we've got a stabilising element in Power who will probably have a bit to say about the prospects of the younger blokes.

Minimal change this year, bring in a few mids, maybe a budget tall, and then take best available at the draft. Cpach to focus on getting the most out of them.

And when you think about it, any time you appoint a new coach during the off-season, most of the playing group would ordinarily have jumped on planes and pissed off to Europe or whatever anyway. Covid means they're all still hanging around, so it's possible that a new coach this year will have an easier time getting a handle on their players even with less time between being appointed and hitting the player movement period.

We arent an outlier. Pretty sure David Noble was appointed in mid Nov. But hopefully we do have a coach by trade period

So getting back to RBs ‘timing’ comment.

Sayers saying 30-45 days.

Who’s still involved in the GF that’d be a chance?
Who’s had a run with Clarko?
Who’s transformed the Dees’ midfield?

I wonder…….

Who?

Im not sure on coaches with training wheels for our club in it scurrent state. Our players may soon manipulate a youngish/inexperienced coach. Hence why i wanted some tuff arse coach to lay down the law. Hence I still think lyon should be the one seeing clarko appears to be unlikely.
