If Steve Silvagni does not rate Hewett, I'd like to know why.
He does rate Hewett. Sorry to just reply to your post but reading a lot of people's thoughts on what SOS said about player x or y... It sounds like barely anyone actually listened to the show today.

He does rate Hewett, he just questioned his suitability for the list. He also said that a defensive mid is also the type you can develop from within.

With players like Dow and SPS he said the player has to take the responsibility for where they are currently at. He also gave the same reasons as the majority of this board as to why they are under developed, but he said at the end of the day they have to take responsibility.

Before we get into the bloke maybe go back and listen to the whole discussion...

Listen to what he actually said, he rates Hewett and said his a good player he asked the question if we don’t already have similar players to him on our list. Supporters have to stop with this sh*t whenever SOS gives an objective opinion about something to do with us

Read my opening word ... It read "IF" ...

I get it, Hewett is a solid player but nothing really more than that...it's probably true a midfielder like that is someone clubs typically draft and develop, rather than recruit from other clubs. We probably wouldn't need to poach him if we had developed our many young mids properly.

But he's a FA and costs around $450k so I won't begrudge it.

Spot on. Just trawled through pages of SOS bagging and all I could think was no one actually listened to the discussion.

Come on lads we gotta get our skates on if Scarlett and potentially Lappin are both out as assistant coaches along with Jaymie Graham today.

Almost more important to start lining these up before the head coach or we'll be left with the dregs.

Me too. I trust Parkin, Diesel, Sayers and Cook
This is just an uneducated guess but maybe one of the key criterion was to set the standards, build the culture, drive continuous improvement...MUCH MORE than tactical nous (which you can get from assistants)...Caracella at Richmond for example
Personally, we need to sort out the culture first...the other stuff comes later
No team has just won a flag because their coach employed a super duper gameplan (it helps I know)...but they win a flag because they believe in the gameplan and understand the proceses required to implement it...thereby allowing the results to look after itself
Welcome the VossWagen

Grrrrrrrrrr. Go The Navy Blues .

how did you know?
How did I know about the mine?
Spent the first 40 years of my life growing up in the foothills to the Dandenongs. Been camping all around the area (Murrindindi, Mansfield, Kevington, Rubicon, Noojee). Know someone in Buxton, friends with a block in Jamieson. Even stretching down to wife's uncle in Traralgon, but wasn't as familiar with Gaffneys Creek when I heard that was the epicentre.
Was always aware of a mine being in the area and when I googled Gaffneys Creek it jogged my memory. Thought it might have been decommissioned, so looked into that and saw that it was still active, but hadn't been able to find any news about it during the day.
Would have been bloody scary to be down there during it, and not much better for the blokes on the surface wondering if their mates were still alive.
