Would have to assume Hewett deal will be completed pretty quickly tomorrow.

Love the Lewis Young development, much prefer the thought of bringing him across rather than Brander, really liked the look of him in his draft year, a nice intercept mark and from his highlights showed a bit of mongrel too. Great potential Jones replacement in a couple of years if we can bulk him up slightly. Would have to think 61 would get it done.

Cerra I think is pretty straight forward 6 and F2 with a F3 coming back.

Would be genuinely stoked if we somehow got 35 for SPS, I think 49 is more likely though.

25 and 49 for the draft, ideally Van Rooyen or Bazzo are available at 25.

Recruiting Lewis Young, I reckon has been a long time coming. A classic example of us recruiting a player who played well against us. He debuted against us in 2017 and played great if I recall correctly. Took a number of great intercept marks, looked a natural defender. If we pick him up and use him as a defender, not a ruck the kid has a future, I reckon.

I’d rather tell the both to find another club and pay their wages to play elsewhere. They offer nothing above average to our list, in fact while they are on the list they are stopping others with more potential from being developed.
I don’t get the knock on newnes. I don’t look at stats but based on an eye test I don’t think he is as bad as most here make out.

Agree. He's our new whipping boy for some reason. I don't quite get it. I remember that game against North where they sliced up our defence and Thomas waltzed into an open goal, he was seen raising his arms in the air in despair at our defensive efforts.

He seems to 'get it' unlike some others on field.

he is a solid tackler and has a high work rate. Cant be losing guys like that at this stage.

Lewis Young now? I just don't think it's the right way to address the key talls. Clubs don't let the good ones walk cheaply. Dogs went for years trying to find them via cast offs and came up short. We'd be better off in the long run getting back into the early first round rather than gold panning in cast off creek.

Not sure about Lewis Young, but the last tall we got from the dogs (Jones) is going alright

Hewett, Cerra and Lewis Young!! Get it done Austin .. be a huge result for our footy club. Hoping for Tyson Stengle in the draft too

Stengle? Likewise, with Ladhams, they don't pass the no d/head policy.

If we had a record of 'turning guys around' I'd say yes. We don't. Not even close. So 'no'. Till we have a proven record of being able to do so.

I’m quite surprised of the lack of talk here and in general circles regarding Talia, for a club that is desperate for KPD depth or even another key position defender, I would have thought, we’d be all over him.

Aside from this year, he has been super durable, what’s the issue? Did his output last year drop considerably, has he slowed down, is he a bad guy?

We are talking about a FA who would help us buy a few years whilst we developed 1-2 kids through the reserves.

I hope we have at least done a medical or enquired.

I thought we were being fair. Tell me, do you think you've been fair, considering Gibbs' career?

I personally think Nelson Mandella could've played cricket for SA. Do you think he's underachieved?
Yes. Never said he was poor, even said he had a good career. Just that he underachieved.

Unfair, apparently.

Stengle has been tearing it up in the SANFL, his still very young only 21 this whole no “dickhead policy” is seriously a joke. His a young kid who has made a mistake but look at his rebound from those mistakes seems focused now, so much talent and fills a need

f*n disgusting if that’s the case. Take away crucial development to give games to someone that is going to do absolutely nothing for the future of the football club let alone infinitely more in any of those games compared to someone much younger.

again, I don't get it. Not everyone is an A grader. We need serviceable role players, like every other team.

I think some of the language on Newnes is a bit over the top but I think it’s a bit annoying that he keeps his spot on the list next year, when realistically he’ll be gone a year later, at the expense of LOB being traded or delisted, someone who is 4 years into a career and still could be a good player for us for a long time.
All this because Newnes triggered a games milestone in a year when we played so poorly.
Newnes has been serviceable for us but I’d far rather we keep LOB.

It depends on the culture of our group. If we can assist this kid, then yes. If not, then no. I don't closely follow the SANFL in regard to the Eagles but apparently he's doing all the right things but there is a knock on the kid - albeit some two years ago.

The 'dad' in me says, if we get blackballed for the actions we did at 19/20 then we'd stuffed for life. There needs to be an element of forgiveness and a second chance.

I think we're looking for a longer term replacement for Jones. Talia still has question marks around his foot(?)

I think the fact that Richmond had a really good look at him and decided to offer Tarrant a contract instead may suggest that something bad may have been found in his medical testing.

Good point, if his foot is bad, his value $$$$ wise would drop significantly, as long as we are having a look, I’m happy.

IIRC, Talia has always been financially motivated and has taken a more active interest in his contract size than the majority of footballers.

I think our policy as exposed this preseason has very much been to only pay just as much as we can to retain players without inviting their leaving for richer pastures. Talia would be a bit... rich for our taste this off season, IMO.
