Yup being banging on about need for an AFL ready Ruck support for Pitto,
for a quite a while.
its an obvious deficiency, in team structure , would allow greater flexibility and better utilization of other talls like TDK .
It would be an astute move by Austin.

Not sure that Meek is much of a forward though. 3 goals in 15 games suggests not.

At over $1mill a year for seven years he'd want to be. In fairness they would both be players unproven in the position that the clubs hoped that they might work in.

At 198cms he’s not going to be a fulltime ruckman, seen nothing of ongoing substance that makes him look like a decent forward.

Perhaps, but if Freo want him to be their goal kicking saviour I think they are barking up the wrong tree, as he hasn`t been that at the Dees and they also have been crying out for another goal kicker as that has been their Achilles heel this season....

I like Meek and believe he could carry a club as first ruck as he develops. Would expect the Cats to be in to him with Stanley and Ceglar both getting on. They have some capable youngsters Conway and Neale(more forward perhaps) at 19 and 20, but Meek would be in their wheelhouse.

I have much more faith in Pitto, TDK and Mirkov than many on here and don’t see a ruck as a need.

I agree, we need a young dynamic half forward and another fast outside mid with elite disposal more than a hulking ruck this season.
Pitto is good enough in the ruck contests and TDK and Mirkov could both develop into something really special.
Looking forward to draft night this year, will be interesting to see if Austin swaps 10 down the order if we miss a targeted player.

Mirkov is so far away from playing as an AFL ruck it isn't funny. He should not be included in any discussions. Darcy (and just about any other AFL ruck) would snap him in half in his first CBA. If somehow he survives that, he will be completely useless around the ground

Funny. He's way over rated.

He's a long way off being anything really.

Way too small to be a #1 ruck and a very slight build to boot.

Marginal as a forward too imo.

I think Pittonet is really underrated.

He's not quick, he's not athletic, he doesn't kick goals or take speccies.

But I'll tell you what he does do. He improves the performance of our midfield. Significantly.

When he's fit, he makes our side much better. And that's the only characteristic that matters.
