Start of third the best we could contemplate, even that would cause a ruckus in the media.
Either way, it would make the Acres trade even better :D

Assuming his contract was linear, I’d say Buddy’s contract has been pretty poor value for Swans over past two season. Not that it’s analogous given he is much older than Harry will be at end of contract.
Probably 6000 more go to the footy up there each week because buddy is playing (sounds weird but having lived there the theatre goers go if there is a big name playing + the swans gave made finals in both years)

6000 x $40 x 11 suggests that he has paid for himself a few times over. Clearly this can never be proven either way, just my guess.

Even though he was clear about upgrading/strengthening draft position and outgoings, just found it interesting that yesterday Austin said never say never when asked about more incomings. Nice that we got Acres in early in the piece

Would most certainly be a Defender first, sees to have shown great leaps and bounds in this dept. But as a kid was that liquorice allsorts football, forward back and ruck, and think if he is to get into the seniors this is his best avenue. Great turn of pace, and real attack of the ball. Incredibly RAW at this stage but has improved majorly this year. One to watch I would say back end of next year!

So it's now IN: Blake Acres, Pick 49 (compo for Jones) and OUT: 2023 R3

If we can upgrade 49 with Dow for an early 2nd rounder, that'll do me.

Draft with 10*, early 2nd (target North pick/s they no doubt get from JHF), 28 and upgrade Owies late.

Happy days.

I don't think adding Dow to 49 gets it into the 20s

Even if its North and they end up with a cache of picks from losing JHF and (potentially) Thomas?

Otherwise, you'd think he's worth a pick between 30-40 on his own, which could absolutely get us into the 20s. Don't care how we do it!

Work your magic, Austin.

Someone would have to really like Dow to do that.

Pick 49 isn't all that valuable.

That's shithouse for Jones, particularly in light of the Norf assistance package. We lost a key player due entirely to an AFL policy that adversely affected only Carlton in a year where we missed finals by a single point. If he'd been traded last year it would have been for a pick in the 20s if not the first round.

The AFL are actually helping us by giving a 3rd for Jones. A 31 year old moving for a contract worth 300k a season would likely net nothing most the time. I think they have used discretion to toss us something.

The fact the contract is 3 years is almost irrelevant. Age and salary are main factors in compo.
Considering Bris got 39 for mcstay it’s pretty good.

Which club/s need points this year? Brisbane?

They have pick 33. Say we trade Dowy for ~45 (around Saints R3 range).

I wonder if they'd consider 45 and 47 for 33.

Gives us another bite of the apple in the second round.

Would love #15 but reckon they'll need the points there to offset their two young guns.

I do wonder how they're going to get Dunkley, mind you.
