His tackling and pressure for me has never been an issue, it’s certainly been of a high standard though recently…

English is the closest I have seen to Dean Cox and still has massive upside

Mentioned a couple of months ago that TDK needed to mature, mind and body and stop trying to take mark of the year

Over last 6 weeks, he has really played well, just focusing on doing the basics really well

It's been impressive

Like Red_man2008 I prefer TDK's ostensible urgency and aggression but admire English's consistent contribution.

His upside is impressive when you consider that English is two years older and has played twice as many games. Continue to focus on the basic elements and retain the aggression that lifts team mates - TDK could be anything...

I'm going to assume that's as a DFA rather than a trade.

Said it plenty of times this year, imo Philp should be retained. Was one of our best performers all through pre season year 1 under Voss and looked absolutely scintillating playing high half forward in the practice games and match sim.

Would get rid of Fisher, Honey, Marchbank, O'Brien, Plowman, Dow and Ed Curnow. Think thats enough exits for 1 year.

Perhaps other clubs see the same upside

It's tough to keep a player who hasn't been able to get on the park.

Of the players to cut first, I would agree, except that it might be hard to get a trade for the contracted LOB, and then Marchy. Think a lot will depend on the next 5-10 weeks with him. Very talented, and we don't have a lot of tall defender depth.

We are hamstrung a bit in terms of many of our most talented players being injury prone which I'd be the first to admit is a bit of an issue but given we really don't have a lot of currency to make extensive changes after re signing TDK and a few others I think we will be forced to take the risk again to an extent.

Philp is still very young and imo his injuries so far haven't been that extensive they've just been fairly long term each time. Someone like Marchy (who mind you I think would be an absolute gun if his body ever gave him a few clean years at it) has had dozens of minor and major injuries which imo is more indicting on his bodies ability to hold up to the rigors of AFL.

Philp has had 2 major injuries to his groin and feet, both long term but the rest of his body seems to hold up fine. I've had issues with both myself and I understand how annoying they can both be, very hard to gauge how much stress they are under when you're young and inexperienced. I'd give him 1 more year on a rookie contract.

Seems about right with the exception of a contracted LO'B. You could probably throw big Nigel into the mix here....love the big fella, but the way it currently stands, Young essentially becomes our backup KPD. You can't afford to have 2 backups running around in the magoos, and Young is contracted.

Seven spots though seems about right - 2 for HO'K and Cinc, 2 for trades F/A, and 3 for draft picks.

I see Philp a little like Cuningham. Their Running power probably gives them an extra season more then what you would usually give. Sort of how talls get that extra season, just in case.

I can’t actually remember someone cleaning up the fumbles as much as Philp would have to, to make it. So I’m not confident

Im actually very very intrigued to see what will happen with Young. He has clear potential as a number 1 KPD as we saw last year but doesn't seem to fit in with ur current mix.

I hope we keep him and he can find his spot in our system but he did move from the Dogs for similar reasons when he was being moved around Fwd, Ruck and Back.
