The Eagles are also in for a long rebuild.Eagles don't have the cap unless they purge players
continually in thrall of opposition teams - what have we become? we're good enough, we beat them all, anywhere, anytime............Tigs get one of Coniglio, Hopper, Green, Taranto - one of their inside mids - and there's no guarantees we're winning next year...
Now, excuse me while I report myself and give myself a red card.

Hopefully the offseason is 5 weeks shorter than normalA very quiet off season!? That's worse than playing finals!
I've been keen on Setters from his junior year, was unbelievable and so smooth.
If his confidence keeps growing, he will definitely be a very good AFL player, just need to find his right spot.
He is just so smooth...
Don't get me wrong, I'd love it for you to be right. But they've got a decent enough second tier, can sell themselves as a premiership club, and have the right pieces remaining - Bolton, Lynch, Balta, Soldo, Baker, Gibcus, Rioli jnr, even Stack's 22 - to build from within some.I feel the Tigers are about to fall off a massive cliff (or at least I hope so).
They have a huge group of great vets who are nearing the end. They are basically Hawthorn from about 3-4 years ago.
The questions are 1) How much have the vets already having less of an impact? 2) what can the Tigers do with their list to reload once the vets go.
I am really hoping the answers are 'not much' to both...
Setterfield provides more inside if neededLast weekend we had O'Brien, Cottrell and Setterfield rotating across the two wings. What is the difference between O'Brien, Cottrell and Sholl?
Yes but that's a by product of the pure wing position and not something we needSetterfield provides more inside if needed
Sorry missed this one.Any word on rucks?
I'd like to see us grab Goldie as UFA for next year and possibly 24
And then go for a marginalised Darcy as RFA at end 2024
I think TDK is a utility-ruck, rather than first ruck. Don't think Pittonet cuts the mustard for premiership-level ruckman, need an improvement in the first ruck position
CottrellIt's why the delist and re-rookie tactic is elite. Kennedy, O'Brien & now Setters?
Sorry missed this one.
Don’t believe a ruck is on our list of wants or needs.
Pittonet is a very good ruckman, TDK has put together an amazing season as a stand alone ruck considering his age. Mirkov was always going to be a project player and is progressing very well, club believes he will be at the level to play afl next year if required.
Lewis Young is another on the list that, with a fit backline, has shown he has an ability to play ruck in afl finals.
Jack is alway as option for a chop out.
Going into 2023 with 4 players that could play 1st ruck of genuinely required to, plus Jack to play back up if injuries go south again.
That is more than enough list spots and money to spend on the ruck position.
Outside run, draft talent KPD and potential mature big defender (cheap) seems to be the plan.

Surely the Doggies owe us for turning Jones into a defender
Agree totally on the direction of the ruck strategy, TDK has done a amazing job this year and has made great progress, despite some negativity on here, very few at his age have the capacity to carry that area for the bulk of the season, other needs as you have listed seem more logical .Sorry missed this one.

Traditionally when a top 10 pick in a draft plays 3 AFL games, there managers begin talking about their next contract. It almost always ends up being an inflated contract based on their draft position.
Luring a player to another club usually result in an inflated contract as well.
So players Like Dow and Setterfield have been paid more than their outputs in our first team his resulted in up unto this point.
The next part is where the ramifications happen, players very very very rarely ever agree to a contract less than what they were on, until they reach a senior age, or aren't playing first team football at all (but they usually wish to leave at this point).
Idea's that we might of had for Will are going to be changing weekly now depending on his output. He had a fantastic 2020 season, but has been a bit lost in the wilderness for 18 months after that. His last 6 weeks of football and his overall attitude has completely shifted. Penny seems to have really dropped.
This is not always a bad thing, because I feel people are far to quick to right off player. We lucked out with Kennedy, he was so close to been given up on, if not for injuries to others and a rookie lifeline he could be Will Brodie'ing at another club right now.
Surely the Doggies owe us for turning Jones into a gun defender
The downside of the delist and re-rookie tactic is that we become vulnerable down the track if they do come good and then want to leave later on.That's the thing with these freakish juniors. They can get by on pure talent without understanding hard work.
The penny doesn't drop until they're a bees dick away from losing their career.
It's why the delist and re-rookie tactic is elite. Kennedy, O'Brien & now Setters?
