Jackson is the worst kept secret in the history of the AFL. It's at the point now Freo have already pick him for the round 1 team next year.

Amon will be a hawk.

Not many could even consider Whitfield based on his contract. So he has to decide if he wants to play for one of the few teams that could.
Richmond will most likely end up with one of the GWS excess inside mids.

Fair chance De Goey and Grundy could be moved on from the pies, and they pick up Mcstay, but given their current list payments, and what they would have to contribute to any Grundy deal, unlikely they can lure much else.

Melbourne are searching everywhere to spend the money they had saved for Jackson on a key forward, they have a break out player from the Hawks in the crosshairs, but would have to move heaven and earth to get the hawks to part with him.

Charlie likely to sign new contract before years end, Harry's negotiations might go into next year, but entirely confident they are both staying long term.

Interesting list calls to be made on the lower end, Setterfield's return to form has ramifications. Sholl is very a likely acquisition, can go into the reasons why again, but have covered it before and a few others have made similar point, he'll be a good pick up.

Depending on Marchbank and Govs ability to play out the year, we could have a very quiet offseason.
Sounds like stability to me.

Charlie, Harry, TDK
yeah fair enough...need to account for those as well..

Overall though i think we are still 1-2 short of players in the mid to high salary range....One on a wing and one key defender to replace Young.

LOB/Newnes/cottrell/setters as wingers and Young as key back are ok and some are still dveloping but im not sure they are finals ready like the club is atm?

All pretty logical and straight forward.

What ramifications you referring to regarding Setterfield? You talking about whether he gets resigned or ramification to others on the list or targets from other clubs?
Traditionally when a top 10 pick in a draft plays 3 AFL games, there managers begin talking about their next contract. It almost always ends up being an inflated contract based on their draft position.

Luring a player to another club usually result in an inflated contract as well.

So players Like Dow and Setterfield have been paid more than their outputs in our first team his resulted in up unto this point.
The next part is where the ramifications happen, players very very very rarely ever agree to a contract less than what they were on, until they reach a senior age, or aren't playing first team football at all (but they usually wish to leave at this point).

Idea's that we might of had for Will are going to be changing weekly now depending on his output. He had a fantastic 2020 season, but has been a bit lost in the wilderness for 18 months after that. His last 6 weeks of football and his overall attitude has completely shifted. Penny seems to have really dropped.

This is not always a bad thing, because I feel people are far to quick to right off player. We lucked out with Kennedy, he was so close to been given up on, if not for injuries to others and a rookie lifeline he could be Will Brodie'ing at another club right now.

I don’t doubt he’s headed over, but this a strange little detail. We’re still mid-season and the Dockers are in the frame for a Top 4 finish - they’re certainly not focusing on 2023.

If they are do they really pencil in their multi-million dollar investment? Kind of goes without saying.

Appreciate the intel. I think Sholl is going to flourish in a new environment. Had some extremely good games in 2021, still young, natural footballer with scope for improvement. There seems to be a bit of a firesale at Adelaide (Crouch) at the moment and a few clubs will benefit.

Any word on rucks?

I'd like to see us grab Goldie as UFA for next year and possibly 24

And then go for a marginalised Darcy as RFA at end 2024

I think TDK is a utility-ruck, rather than first ruck. Don't think Pittonet cuts the mustard for premiership-level ruckman, need an improvement in the first ruck position

I've been keen on Setters from his junior year, was unbelievable and so smooth.

If his confidence keeps growing, he will definitely be a very good AFL player, just need to find his right spot.

He is just so smooth...

Their List Management Department is though.
And we're not mid-season. In 4 weeks time a bunch of players will have their careers ended and those still with jobs for 10 clubs will be on holidays.

There would be some understanding he’d be on their list, but it’s an unusual way of phrasing it.

Of course he’s going to be in their plans for Round 1 if they’re sacrificing a decent chunk of salary and a couple of early picks to grab him.
It was more just a tongue in cheek way of suggesting their level of confidence they have got their man.
Not suggesting the MC are unsure if he makes the best 22.

Cheers.

It’s always looked like an perfect fit for me - former WA player heading back home after jagging a flag and now gunning for a big contract.

Dockers have the cap space and a couple of 1sts (including a future first) to scrape over the line.

Horrible result for Melbourne given the lack of available key forwards and how poorly their current set up is working. Jackson could at least pinch hit in there.

Freo already penciling in Jackson for round 1 makes sense.

2022 is still going, but I have already penciled in a round 1 win for the next 10 years..... :p
Tigs get one of Coniglio, Hopper, Green, Taranto - one of their inside mids - and there's no guarantees we're winning next year...

Now, excuse me while I report myself and give myself a red card.
