Don't disagree, but how long would it be before he'd be part of some coup to overthrow the board and bring in a new coach? Maybe they're keeping him close to try to control him.
The ol’ “keep your friends close & your enemies closer” method probably has some merit in this case.

Although you’d have to be a potato to partner up with him considering his penchant for speaking without thinking.

The sad thing is that Sheedy should be revered after all he's done for the club, but more and more when I think of him all I can see is Grandpa Simpson.

the club should remove Sheedy TODAY! what a stupid, delusional, selfish old campaigner he now is! Him, and people like him, are the reasons why this club is stuck in the past! **** HIM OFF TODAY! And why go running to the media? He's already white anting Brad Scott on day ****ing 1! All clubs are bigger than any individual especially Sheedy!

So forget what the coaching panel recommended and just appoint Hird because he was a great player!!? He’s either taking the piss or has lost his marbles. And then to even come out and say what he’s said! Have to seriously cast doubt on his judgement and therefore suitability to be on the board

He's not taking the piss or crazy. He's just old school. Very very old school.

I’m actually really pissed at this Sheedy stuff. The coaching committee recommended Scott. The clear second option was Yze. The fact Sheeds still voted Hird shows it doesn’t matter what happened or who ran, he was doing that regardless. Which we all knew, but then he has to come out and make sure everyone knows. No one gives a ****, Kevin. All it does is show that he didn’t give a damn about the process or the right fitting candidate - he’d already made his mind up and his ego lead him to believe he knows best and everyone else needs to know he knows best.

I know that you don’t want a board full of yes men who think with a hive mind. You have debates and discussion but eventually come to a consensus. But this doesn’t feel like that, this feels like one individual that does not belong there. He needs to go.

When the board or committee make a decision and you're on it, you stand by said decision even if you disagree with it. That's it, period. You can let Hird know that you voted for him privately.

Its an own goal by the club for bringing Sheeds onto the board when he is better suited to a marketing or mentoring role.

I’d say he’s probably just ruined that marketing résumé - what a bellend.

Please excuse the intrusion - for the first time in possibly decades I actually feel sorry for your club - can’t believe how selfish and just plain unprofessional Sheedy has acted here. Hope he’s jettisoned swiftly and you guys can enjoy the build up to next season with a bit of optimism and positivity. 👍🏻

Given everything Sheedy has done for our club and the game overall I do not like to insult him or call him names. He will have my respect and thanks.

But I agree it’s passed time he moved on from the club.

His position is totally untenable. Off to stud at Penfolds, Kevin.

Lel, off to the the *ing retirement home for this ancient geezer. Way past his used by date.
He’s like the whacky old uncle at a family function, you have him around cause he’s family but everyone keeps their distance cause he’s a lunatic.
Time to cut that cord, thanks for everything

I agree, but nowadays he's kind of always acting like a grumpy old man yelling at stuff, so....

Kevin needs to go to this website and read

"Board solidarity means that a decision taken in proper form by the board is a decision of all board members. You don't get to behave as if it hadn't happened, or criticise it to outsiders, or keep agitating outside the board for your own proposition.

This can often be difficult, because boards can take decisions that you may not want to be associated with, or decisions that go against the opinions, or even the interests, of other groups - some of which groups can be among those electing members to the board. Even there, though, you're not supposed to go back to your constituents and badmouth the board's decision. As best you can, you're supposed to defend it, showing your people why it was taken and what it actually means.

If you can't defend the actions of your board at all - if you think they're utterly wrong - and if there's no chance of winning your colleagues round, then you may have to consider resigning."
