Bomber should be applaued

Nice rant Nut ... but the fact is , no-one involved with the GFC , from the president to the boot-studder would agree with that

It doesn't matter what everyone else at Geelong think. It's what bomber felt was right. If he was burnt out, lost his drive to be head coach of Geelong then he should have left.
He should be remembered for taking the club that was regarded as the biggest bunch of hand bag players to a 2 time premiership club that is now regarded as one of the toughest and strongest clubs in the competition.

If there is anyone at Geelong feels cheated by Bomber then they have rocks in their heads.

I'm not playing down bombers achievements at all , not really the topic .

The whole point is if you are so burned out and jaded its pretty tasteless and hypocritical to turn up at your former club literally a week later .

I wonder when he sat down with Frank Costa and Brian Cook to discuss his problems if he mentioned that he was going back to Windy Hill ?

I'm tipping he didn't ... and you are being incredibly niave' if you want to use the arguement that not even bomber would have known where he would be heading .

Knights still at Essendon ? ... Bomber still head coach of the Cats ;)

not when you consider he has gone from head coach to a subordinate role..would indicate very strongly to me that he's had it...different thing all together if he went to ESS as the headjob, facts remain he didn't

Assistant - easy money.
Head coach - stress time.

You do the math.

He may well have been burnt out, but tell me Bo how many people who say they are burnt out by their profession would take up another position(even a subordinate role) with another company in the same business within 6 weeks?

Either way he is as weak as fuggin piss.

Can't honour the multi million dollar contract ? ... don't sign the fuggin thing

Your just picking and choosing little micro points to suit your whimsical romantic notion

Its a billion $ industry and romance and loyalties went out the window in the 70's .... PROFESSIONALISM

Its the continued holding onto these romantic notions of the 70's when it was kill or be killed at Punt rd. that have dragged down our club for 25 years . Died with GR but you want to hold onto it.

I wouldn't want any former tiger "great" back at Punt rd. who had to weasel out of a contract to do it .

Prime reason why you are one of the best posters on this board when you decide to grace us with your presence.:thumbsu:

Is it Professional to continue in a position when your hearts not in it???

... and the other side of the coin seeings we are bringing our own lifes experiences into this .

As you know i am moving interstate early next year , i too have a position of responsibilty where i supervise a dept. where up to 20 people give or take work .

I sat down with MD last week to work out an exit strategy that will minimise the impact on the company upon my dept. ... i have offered to train up someone from within our company and have even offered to stay on longer once my family is up north should the transition not be complete .

If i was was self-serving i would keep my plans sercret and only give the minimum required notice so as to totally protect my own future should they decide to replace me sooner rather than later once they knew of my plans but i believe in honesty and integrity and karma is a big thing in this life ;)

Subsequently we are interviewing 4 of the boys off the floor next week as my replacement and my boss is working with me in every way to assist my move and get me employment once i move and i will be staying on with the company until it is time to shove off .. time indefinate from both parties

Take from that what you will

In fact .. technically ... wouldn't Geelong be within their rights to dispute his right to work at Essendon because he contracted ?

Exercise your right Costa i say :thumbsu:

There was a clause in Thompsons contract that if either party gave 3 months notice prior to the contract running it's course then they could walk away.

Lmao

U got the ars and can't admit it.
Not responsible enough to have a leadership position yet is an authority on the subject.

Lmao @ people can b such arsholes -y not? You are!

Poor bojackles and bomber, they're so similar. ...

How much did the "lure" of Essendon weaken the heart ?

That .. is the question

Well, what ever "weakened the heart" really doesn't matter, if his hearts not in it than he should have left.... From what I have heard is that money has nothing to do with it because Bomber has made a packet from a development project and doesn't need to work for the rest of his life.

It could be a question of self motivation.... he may just feel like he can't offer Geelong the required level of dedication. Instead of hanging around for a year milking a contract..... he made a decision that he felt was the best for the club... Whether or not he could have "acted" professionally and given Geelong great service for another season is debatable. But from all accounts Bomber is a passionate person and if his passion isn't there than he is probably a person who you dont want to have around.
So you could argue he did the professional act by actually leaving not staying.

Geelong still have a list capable of top 4 and with a new coach and fresh approach might have a better chance next season with out bomber for another flag.

I think Sam Newman summed it up very well when he said that he fealt that "the gig was up for Mark Thompson (regarding his gameplan) and that it may very well be a blessing in disguise" .

yeah that's good pal, my exit was a little one sided, but yeah I see your point

absolutely not, without knowign the guy personally, me thinks all the motivation was $$$$$$$$$ to leave the cattery for the GC, bomber would have had **** all to do with that

Throw in the fact that there seemed to be some friction between the two who knows.
