Update to my predictions for 2023
  • Harry and Charlie to be joint winners in the Coleman, tying the ledger at 2 apiece
  • Cowan to play 16+ games and finish top 3 in the Rising Star
  • We'll lock up top 4 with a round to go
  • Walsh to defy preseason injuries to go to another level and pip Crippa for the club MVP
  • Crippa, Doc, Charlie and Weiters to round out the top 5
  • Carroll to break into the side and enjoy a mini-breakout
  • Crippa and Walshy to share Brownlow votes but both still finish top 10
  • Acres to fit in seamlessly and create a super partnership with Cotters to prove our missing link

O'Brien to be the "Dow" of next year and struggle to get a game
De Koning to leave at the end of the year

Sounds horribly pessimistic when I read over over it again but I do sadly think that will all happen

One thing I will say is that out of that group of sides and ourselves; ever who misses the finals will be bloody devastated. Dogs also in the same boat

the umpiring bleat brigade will be as strong as ever right from the first round - the fact every other club's supporters think they are hard done by just doesn't seem to filter through

I hope I am and it’ll be bookmarked hey. I just think a lot of sides have improved around us and I suspect we will as well but don’t think it’s nearly a forgone conclusion that we make the 8 like some. Anyway, would be more than happy to be wrong

My first thought around your post was "what a bloody negative sod" and I reckon it's a very pessimistic view. But on the other hand, I don't really blame anyone for this being the default given what we've endured as supporters.

I believe we will (and should) finish top 4, but I also wouldn't be surprised if your prediction was closer. I for one will believe finals/the rise when Round 24 is over and we're getting pumped for our first final year over a decade.

I hope you're wildly wrong, obviously.

Yeah listen it’s obviously one I hope I’m wrong as well and sadly I was too young in out last premiership error to remember it, so I think I’m just a little scarred by it all.

Re TDK I just have this real gut feeling as well. I don’t want him to go but I also don’t think it’s the end of the world comparatively to who we’ve signed the last 12-24 months.

If I can be more positive I think Cottrell will entrench himself in the best 22 on a wing with Akers and become a bonafide afl player. I really like him and I think some forget he is only 22. Time for plenty of growth in his game
