Well guys, bigfooty was right. It's been a long season and I think we've all come to the realisation that we're in for a long stint at the bottom. While it's been painful watching the exciting young teams like Melbourne, Richmond, West Coast and Norf leap frog us while we wallow, at least it will cause the club to realise that we don't have any young players worth noting and we can finally start rebuilding, even if it is a painful time to do so.

Why didn't we listen to bigfooty and start rebuilding in 2003?

And Essendon. Don't forget Essendon. They're great.

this whole time we also made the mistake of going for good players instead of just young draft picks. a big no no in bigfooty land

Haha this is classic, I love throwing this into people's faces.

We're without a doubt the best managed team behind the scenes rebuilding a team...

1995 - 2002 - 2009

We dont even fall out of the 8 besides a couple of instances... I showed a result to a Richmond supporter, they have been in the 8 the same amount of time we have been out of the 8 since 1995. They've been 3rd 3 times in 15yrs... the rest bottom 8.

All knowing BF fans, we Swans fans humbly and apologetically throw ourselves at your mercy.

How dare we not tank and hoard picks? That is the natural way of dealing in the AFL. It cannot be done any other way.

Lol at those Essendon fans, what a joke they were.

Nostradamus the lot of them.

As predicted, the loss of Hall, O'Loughlin, Barry, and Crouch (easily our most dominant players in 2009) along with the unfathomable delisting of the experienced Ablett, has seen us entrenched in the bottom four. It's demoralising to see that we're completely reliant on Craig Bolton, Kirk, Goodes and O'Keefe, while getting nothing out of also-rans like Mumford, Kennedy, Hannerbery and Jack.

What's worse is that our hated foes, those wily Eagles, are soaring back into premiership contention while we languish. I think I might barrack for them instead.

And why did you bother to pick up guys like McGlynn? He was never gonna get a game.

Everyone knew Jetta would never amount to anything: he and Dennis-Lane are far too small for AFL. And Gary Rohan? Redheads playing footy, whatever next?

You guys will probably time it perfectly. Goodes, Kirk, Bolton x 2 and the rest of your old crew who are no doubt still carrying your side right now will keep you competitive again next year and then when they retire you will have skipped that comprimised drafts. Then I think you will have to rebuild...

Not really. We have a father/son pick for next year in Tom Mitchell if we want him. He looks to be a top 20 talent for his draft class if latest news is anything to go by. This year seems the only one we seem heavily compromised in, and even that look deep enough that we could get a gun youngster.

The old guard will hang around for a bit longer, but as last weekend showed, the team is in good hands with the younger players right now.

And Essendon. Don't forget Essendon. They're great.

Weren't Essendon going to make the top 4 this year, going by one signature that read.

2008 improve = check.
2009 make finals = check.
2010 make the top 4 = um.....what happened fellas?

And where's the Premiership dynasty, that the Eagles were meant to be having?

Hi there,
You must not know much about the Sydney Swans.
Bye.

You do realise that Kirk has taken a back-seat role and has barely spent any time in the middle all year, right? And that Craig Bolton only played 5 games? And that Jude Bolton has been superseded by Jack? And that Goodes has been up and down, and far from reliable? Ditto Kennelly? And that ROK has had a decidedly ordinary year? Ditto Shaw?

The only player over 26 that you could possibly make an argument for us still relying on is Goodes. He's still far from the be-all and end-all of whether we play well, but he is our most talented player, there's no denying that.

Otherwise, we are driven exclusively by players 26 years and under. Jack. Grundy. Malceski. McGlynn. Mumford. McVeigh. Hannebery. Kennedy. Smith. Moore. These guys are the reason we are playing finals, not Kirk and co (as much as we may love them). We then have the likes of Rohan, Jetta, White, Meredith, TDL, Heath, and Veszpremi, all of whom have played seniors this year and have shown a great amount of aptitude and promise at senior level.

We aren't stalling until after the compromised drafts to rebuild. We already have rebuilt.

Not sure if you've been watching our games.

craig Bolton hasnt played all year.
kirk has been playing his role this year instead of carrying the team,
jude has been a bit inconsistent won us a few games but been quiet in others

Goodes is really the only one who has been carrying our team and this has only really happened in the second half of the year.

Look at the freo game our best players were all the guys in their early to mid 20's not the old guard.

Mumford, Jack, Hannebery, McGlynn, Shaw, Jetta

Whew, thank goodness you guys aren't discouraged ... keep those ideas coming.

We'll have to look into awarding a prize for the best one.

.................and Pyke has been a wasted experiment!

Why oh why do we persist with these internationals?

Oh dear...................to think he will play in the finals.............a Canadian Rugby player!

How embarrassing!:D

A reason for us to bump this thread again in 2 years. Thanks :thumbsu:
