You're not wrong. Thoolen in this game, with no exaggeration, has provided the best passes to leading forwards I've seen from anyone in any of our VFL games this year.

Yeah but you have to be careful with players like that. Sometimes if they don't have good vision those kicks end up in the hands of opponents. Stanley is one that can spear them like that but when he hasn't got any clear options it's a dangerous kick.

As long as he only kicks like that when he sees a forward leading clear in front. If that's his stock kick it's not so great.

When Dawes moved into the ruck a few times he looked great when the ball hit ground level. When it all clicks for him he'll be a good player. So many times he gets his hands on the ball from tough positions, once he learns when to time his leaps and how not to get pushed under the ball easily he'll be a bit of a monster.

Any bests list right now would have to include MacAffer, Thoolen, Anthony and Crow. Other good players are Dawes, Pendlebury, and Carmody IMHO. Egan came good that quarter, and Cook faded out a little after a good first half.
