Autopsy Brave Swans fall 9 points short

Don’t disagree Ted but this team need Paul Kelly and I don’t know if that would be enough.
I don't normally get too upset after losses. Annoyed but not upset but this one was so predictable after watching the Saints hand us a top 4 spot last night when they beat Carlton. I watched last night's game with my son who went today, I couldn't due to work & another flipping day game.

When the siren went last night he turned to me & said top 4 spot is ours tomorrow dad.
I replied no way. Don't forget it's a day game, it's against a shit team, Stringer will beat us, we't smashed in the ruck by Draper, & we'll choke.

Franklin's miss in the fourth quarter summed up the day.
Warner probably the only highlight today. Fox was decent and the McCartins tried hard. Stephens was solid until the brain fades at the end. Hickey got a bath in the ruck and Papley needs a spell , he would be lucky to hit a cruise liner at five paces from a set shot at the moment.
The worst thing about this is we are losing the same way each game. Giving away successive goals and dropping off for a quarter each game. We still don't know how to respond which is a bad reflection on the on field leadership and coaching.
Fair play to Essendon they changed the momentum and kicked straight deserved the win in the end.
Fudge knows where we go from here ...

Not surprised, Not our day. Be careful for what you wish for. Game was there to be won, but inaccuracy in front of goal and lack of defensive transition cost us the game as the surging Bombers spoil Parkers 250th game.

Another one bites the dust of teams having their season best performances against us, always us. Kept the door open by kicking like 2.13 after quarter time and the bombers were flawless. Credit to them a great display, legit could not miss. In retrospect, they did deserve their goals, they were champagne footy quality, just at the expense of our poor defensive transition and getting battered in the outside game.

But seriously some of their goals were just crazy, that 40m banana from stringer was just mental, they could do no wrong, shows how much goal after goal situations and momentum can do with efficiency. Then again, another game of conceding 5+ goals in a row, when is it gonna end.

Still some great positives, started well, controlled things well when we had the momentum, just a see sawing battle really.

Chad was terrific, one of his best career games, sensational in the contest, 3 solid goals, showed class and composure, he's gonna be a jet real happy with him.

Oh well in the end, just not our day, still plenty of upside, if we could just kick straight. Wouldn't be surprised if we beat doggies by 30 plus given our consistency, heads up still proud of the boys, but gee such an embarrassing loss.

Longmire's press conferences are so boring and frustrating these days. Ever since the Carlton loss that left us at 0-6 in 2017 (after which he cathartically roasted the team and the performance), he's been extremely careful not to criticise and to be as generic in his comments as possible. He basically never says anything anymore. It's always just a string of non specific platitudes and truisms. It's become really annoying.

Do you blame him though? I’d do exactly the same thing as him in that situation. Honestly **** the AFL media, it’s a colossal shitshow.

Keep your cards close to your chest Horse and just play the game.

Yep he's another who was s**t today and has had an awful year.
We forget that just because players like JPK, Ramps & Buddy play the odd ripper game based on their ticker, it doesn't mean they will be better the following year & help improve us. It's the young blokes on our list that will improve & take us to the next level.
Stevens making mistakes I can cope with because he is young. It will come for him with games & repeat pressure.
At least this wasn't a final like last year's one against GWS. This bad kicking is building into our DNA. It is seriously bad now & when the ever reliable old defenders start flickering, well it's time to hand over to bodies that can cope with a full 4 quarters & 26 games of footryt a season.
that's what we need to start planning for snext week. Pick the team we believe will take us forward from 2023 - 2030.
If that means Hickey misses games for Ladhams then so be it.
If it means Stevens stays in & Papley goes out, then bring it on. I don't care. I remember Jarad Crouch's skills back in his early days. It wasn't only skills that cost us today, it was a lack of ticker in the middle when the Bombers were kicking unanswered goals.

love Warner but in the first he literally has a four on one twenty metres from goal and misses the handball

stuff like that omfg

but he did largely make up for it

He seems to indicate we fall done technically and that is our issue, I don’t know if he ever feels passion towards the footy these days, seems more robotic. His conferences are generally apathetic summing up we had chances and didn’t take them and that is the game. Would like to be a fly on the wall to see what really happens.

Clarke out a stinker of a call. You know we would have gotten 100% from him, and we certainly didn't get that from plenty of others today.

lol
clarke makes **** all difference today

If the senior players around him are failing then he has excuses IMO.
He needs to be led by example.
Stephen’s was far from being the issue today.

Said that weeks ago amd was howled down

To be honest I'd rather not make finals when we drop these type of games.
The club need to celebrate Parkers 250th with a clip put up of Parker showing Shiel disrespect a few weeks ago.
That should be replayed on the wall of the club rooms for 10 years so that everyone that pulls on a red & white jumper going forward can learn that no matter who you are at this club, you never show disrespect to another player that goes out onto a footy field in the AFL.

I hated that he did it a few weeks ago & I hate it even more now.
Embarrassed as a supporter, not by the loss but because we lost to the team on the receiving end of that disrespect.
Absolute storm in a tea cup as Longmire said. Players sledging their opponents goes all game every ****ing game.

The only reason this one got attention is because Parker made the theatrical shoulder shrugging to go along with the sledge which made what was going on obvious to viewers at home.

If Stephens gets scapegoated at the selection table (again) for that stinking pile of 4-quarter manure, I’ll give up.

We missed Clarke’s pressure in the forward 50. Back to the opposition waltzing it out of defence. Absolute clanger leaving him out.

Sheldrick was clearly rusty in the reserves today, but when he gets back into gear, we need mongrel.

lol
clarke makes * all difference today
Could have played a lockdown role on Hind like he did on Sinclair last week.

25 touches, 20 kicks. The sealer. Shut him down and we win. It's still a shitful performance, but disagree he couldn't have made a difference.

Needed more role players out there today.
