Just for reference the sign on the fence is what horizontal looks like

just for yoru reference when a person jumps straight up top block a ball- they land straight down on their feet - all you've proven is that Maynard faked a block so he could execute a body hit - which may have been fine as it is the usual BS that gets a pass- but jump into a blokes head with your shoulder-- is probably a bit of a no no these days..

and your buddy fellow idjot Christian wasn't allowed to let is slide.

oh well.

No shit, Sherlock. And if they jump when they're running, they land forward of where they took off - like Cripps did when he hit Ah Chee

Well since you need it spelt out to you ..I will

landing forward is a known outcome of jumping as Maynard did - so he knew that he was going to land forward and part of his knowing was that he was likely to collide with Brayshaw - in preparation for this known collision because that is exactly how Maynard approached the situation -expecting to collide and planning for it - he also braced and hit the bloke in the head with his shoulder

If you think that is ok - well fine. Let the AFL make it clear that such collisions are just fine and are part of the football action BS that good old boys carry on with - watch other imbeciles lie maynard convert themselves into 90kiogram projectiles aimed at opponents heads just after they have kicked a ball and are totally unprotected..

the hit was late and high and the bloke was carried off and didn't come back on and is in hospital - simple enough for most people to understand floggo.

Assume you mean Cripps - or have the rules changed since then?
Of course the 'rules' have changed since then players are getting weeks of suspension for what used to be regulation excellent AFL style tackles - ask your mate who runs teh MRO for Collingwood he will tell you that 17 teams are subject to his arbitrary protect the players head rules- but Collingwood is 'special'

stop hiding under a rock you idjot

the AFL is completely ****ed....they have successfully killed the bump, and now they are trying to kill the smother???? If they were serious about the health of the player, Gary Rohan would have got 6 weeks for knocking out Cameron with a blatant bump to the head.

I dont like Maynard, but i admire his attack on the ball, which is all the incident on Thursday was.

No doubt in my mind that Maynard knew that he would be making contact - his problem is that his shoulder hit Brayshaw in the head causing a concussion. I like Maynard plays hard and fair in my book - he would have turned to protect himself through instinct.

However, that said, the ball was never in dispute - the football 'act' was a defensive act - therefore a body collision / contact places the onus on the defender to take care - that is the way the rules are structured and interpreted all year in '23.

I have no doubt that ( eg Bayshaw wasn't hit in the head ) it would have been play on - even. if say Brayshaw had his ribs broken because a knee made contact incidentally - still play on ....the head area though is all about the defender having a duty of care - above and beyond any other issues.

Ironically brayshaw was involved in a knee into Cripps' rib cage which is why Cripps is playing sore since that game - it was play on as it was a genuine 'football action' - no head involved.

Being generous the MRO should have ruled incidental and high meaning 2-3 weeks being able to be argued down to maybe 1. The fact that the idjot ex Collingwood player decided that THIS example of lack of care despite a player being carried off was not worthy of mention - made the situation worse in my book. The ex Collingwood MRO officer forced the hand of a higher up and straight to the tribunal - he will be lucky to have it read down to one week now - very lucky.

If I was inclined to be a flog I would say suxsheet or something similar which the too many flogs on here use as a got to reference point. Since I am a noble Carlton supporter I say - I feel sorry for Maynard as he may well end up missing more than a game and if Collingwood fluke their way into GF - he will be missed since the rest of their defenders are a bunch of flopping for frees soft cawks.

...and now let's hear your analysis of Cripp's hit on Ah Chee

The AFL has made it pretty clear they were very unhappy with how this ended and then made tweaks to the rules to ensure that players aren't able to get off on a technicality. Hence why this year there has been a massive crack down on head high hits in all situations.

It's on the player who chooses to leave the ground or chooses to bump that he ensures the safety of the opponent.

If the AFL back flip on this just because it's a final, then it's going to be hard to believe they are taking head knocks seriously at all.

Maynard is in big trouble and I would be very surprised if he gets off.
