A prediction problem? More like a prediction gift.
Will North go backwards or forwards next season?

I feel if they don't make the GF after 2 prelim appearances then they have failed the club and the supporters. Boomer will kick goals and break records though so I guess the important stuff will happen for the club.

It's all well and good to be passionate, but no one likes a **** head. Always came across as one, this just further proves it

Every team has a finger pointer. And every player responds differently to them. For the more experienced players it would be annoying but water off a ducks back. It would be a worry if has an effect on morale in a team already devastated.

In my decorated playing career, I always found I responded well to a spray from the coach. The finger pointer in the side I did not respond well to, and invariably tried to give him a corkie/knee in the back of the head at every training session.

To be fair to him he moved to Essendon to contend and win premierships, I'd be bitter too if everything unravelled like it did as soon as he got there.
Also to his credit he was the face of the media help minimise the players from a barrage of constant media scrutiny.

He may be a dickhead on field, Chappy may not have liked him. Who cares?

Well that dickhead is a 280 game, 3 time Premiership, 2 time All Australian and Norm Smith medalist. He might have a fair idea what is required to be a successful team player?
Thoughts on Carey as a person?

Or do we judge players personalities on their footballing success?

Lol - is this about Goddard or a 2016 Roos prediction thread.

Diversion Kings!!!!
I don't get the point of the thread. We all know Goddard acts like a dick on the field. What were you trying to unravel here exactly?

Some players point and shout, others cop multiple suspensions playing in losing finals. All players have their flaw.

You can be all off those and still be a dickhead you said it yourself 'successful TEAM'
22 players in a team surely one or more is gunna be a knob
I see no evidence of Chapman being a "dickhead". On the contrary, i see him being open, honest and forthright in his observations at Essendon. Of course in Australia we don't like people to be that way, it's all become to precious and god forbid if you upset anybody with what you consider to be a true account of something? As he stated Goddard has an opposing view, he was in a different head space.

Not many have had bad things to say about his actions on the field..... was an inspired leader who always had the backs of his players....

Leave the Kelli Stevens thing out of it.....

Chapman is questioning Goddard's on field leadership, he didn't like it, he thought he was too abrupt, too harsh on the younger players. I don't think this was any secret?

This is totally an on field issue.

Hasn't been an easy ride for bj since joining bombers. But he has carried on like this way before he left the saints. He wouldn't be well liked by most teammates. I'd rather play against him than with him.
What a c-smack.

Not sure if people criticizing Goddard have read the whole excerpt of what the HUN printed. Found it incredibly odd where Chapman basically admitted that he had a hard time fitting into Essendon yet then criticizes a guy in the leadership group for showing leadership on the ground. It also went into Goddard in meetings saying there was a lack of leadership in the fwd line which Chapman obviously took personally and considering what he was recruited for, he should be taking some responsibility for. Not sure if Chappy noticed but Essendons fwd line was such a debacle they had to move their best defenders there to try and get some goals.

There is a 2 page article in the paper today. You don't hear many players talking as open and honest as Chappy has. It's really poor reflection on Goddard.

Essendon supporters are happy to blame Wada/Asada for Essendons fall from grace but with leaders like Goddard at the club I think this has to be a big part of your problems.

It was fine the year before when they played finals. Chappy missed most of this year. I think Chappys point was Goddard was happy to blame other players and areas yet did nothing constructive to help and stayed floating in the back line getting easy kicks.

Would rather point the finger than take responsibility.

Nah.

Seriously, this reflects so much more poorly on Chapman than anyone else. I can never get why players do this immediately after retiring. And really, Chapman played in 3 flags while BJ has busted his arse and come away with none. Then Chappy joins the Bombers for a nice retirement package and has the audacity to criticize Goddard for being a perfectionist? Gimme a spell. It's alright for some Paul. What a w***er. I'm genuinely surprised more people aren't of this same opinion.

Big mistake bending his mates misses over and that makes him a crap bloke. Hird did the same thing to 34 players = worse bloke.

But now we have settled that out champion players are just ordinary human beings lets get back onto Goddard - or do you want to point the finger at other player. Would be apt if you did......

Exactly. We've always known Goddard is a flog on the field. He's a perfectionist and wants everybody to play up to his standards, even if he's not living up to those standards himself. I don't know why this is suddenly a new story? If players like Chappy have a problem with it then they are more than entitled to let Brendan know about it; teammates should be able to give each other honest feedback, on the field if need be.

It's when a supposed leader berates their young players in the media like Boomer Harvey did as captain that I'd have a problem with.

I read the article, Chappy calls BJ a very good leader.

That settled it for me, feel free to carry on in here twisting Chapman's own words to fulfill your daily Essendon posting quota though.

Spot on. Boomer has always blamed others for his own failings though.

"300 invisible pinches made me play poorly"

Caption competition anyone?

Chappy : what the **** is your problem, BJ?
BJ : sorry Chappy, you know I'm a perfectionist. But I'm trying to improve.

You know this is just a small part from his autobiography?? He can't play Mr Nice guy and tell us everyone he played with was a great bloke and life long friend. If that is what he thought he should be bringing it up. Every player during their career use the same boring old lines and we never get the truth. Glad we have the truth.
