Cool. As you were.
No offence intended, and you may well be on the money. But...

Cool. As you were.
I've been thinking similar thoughts for a while.
All this speculation re Cloke and Goddard. No one from the club's said anything.
There are others on the list we can FA.
I hope we make a play for Clint Young. Has been said he'll never leave Hawthorn, but the beauty of free agency is you don't have to die wondering

He's injured all the time though?I'd be amazed if we haven't already. Of all of the better quality FA that haven't signed, he would be my pick. He's probably going to give us the most 'bang for buck' in terms of meeting a need and not breaking the bank at the same time.
Can absolutely guarantee you blokes aren't getting Goddard. But there is something in the works out of left field that my sauce wouldn't provide any additional info on.
I must be in the minority that doesn't particularly think Young is a player for whom we should be putting much effort into luring west. He is solid enough, but he should only be a backup plan if we can't get someone better.
I'd prefer to use FA to go all out for a superstar, rather than a mid-range player. If you are going to pay overs for someone, at least do it for a gun.
Would chase him purely on the basis he cuts us up everytime Hawthorn plays us at Subi so we know he plays the ground well. Would be an upgrade on Mzungu.
It worked with Lyon
We should nab Dangerfield too on those grounds

Nah, I'm with you. Young would be an improvement on Mzungu. With another pre-season the same could be said of Sheridan, Sutcliffe and Morabito though. Heck, with another pre-season Mzungu could be an improvement on Mzungu! Spend the money elsewhere.
At 26? Mzungu doesn't have high scope for improvement imo. I think with Morabito back next year at some point and the improvement of Neale, I see him missing the top 22 next year.Nah, I'm with you. Morabito and Goddard can both roost the ball 55-60 metres effortlessly.
Add Mundy and Hill and you have four elite level long kicks running between the arcs.
If we get more games out of Nic Suban next year , playing where he is better suited in the forward line, Freo's firepower into the forward line will be the strongest in the comp.
The Dockers, who also remain interested in Collingwood's Travis Cloke, are believed to have as much as $200,000 a season more to offer Goddard than the Saints. They are also prepared to offer five years. The Bombers have offered four years with industry sources indicating they could pay Goddard as much as $800,000 in his first season.
Riewoldt, who suffered a knee injury with four rounds to play, is in negotiations with the club to extend his contract to 2014.
It is understood that would be a $500,000 contract, although deferred payments from previous seasons would be spread over the 2013-14 contracts.
Sounds a bit dodgy. So they agree to pay him a mill a year for the first 3 years on the condition that the 4th year drops to 500k - but then they defer payments from those first 3 years and spread them out over later years anyway.
According to the HUN we are prepared to offer Goddard a five year deal while Essendon a four year deal.

It also says that as part of Riewoldt's deal his salary will decrease by $500,000 next year so St Kilda do have the room. I think 5 years is too much but it still would be a big coup if he came over committed.
I can't see how anyone could take these sorts of articles seriously. There are so many unconfirmed guesses that eventually one of them has to be right.
Might as well go to a psychic.
