It seems once players retire they are suddenly geat players blah blah blah. The truth is most are average AFL footballers, especially as they get older and become slower. If you are not contributing to the team, which Staker wasn't, and honestly, besides 2010 where you'd probably say was a pass for him, he's given absolutely nothing for the past 5 years, injuries or no injuries.

Anyone else surprised Staker was still playing?

Staker isn't a premiership player.

And his name is Brent, not Brett.

Was swans 2nd best player in 05 grand final behind Gardiner.

My everlasting memory was him marking inside forward 50 when we were up in the last in the 2005 GF and then running into a Swans player
Staker right now:

Early on he spent far too much matchtime playing enforcer with the smallest guys on the paddock...none too popular he was. Trying to slyly take out the Buchanon/Schneider types off the ball in big games is never the stuff of hero's.

Barry eventually made him famous though. A few Sydney midfielders would have had a quiet chuckle when it happened.

Cruelled a bit with injuries, but to play 150+ games at top level is a terrific effort and shows he was no mug.

Another player from the 2005-6 Swans/Eagles era departs
All the best in your retirement Brent:)
Whatever happened to the player we traded your club for Staker? I vaguely recall that his name was Brad Dazell or something. Is the guy still playing?

And yet hes most likely played 160 more games of Professional AFL than you.

Show some respect, no ones painting him as a legend of the game, this is simply a thread to knowledge what he achieved despite his setbacks both injury and skill wise.

Great to be getting some Broken hill boys in the AFL. Shame brent couldnt have had a better career but not everyone gets that chance to play AFL

Bradd Dalziell did play a few games for us but was soon delisted - he would often tear it up in the WAFL but not translate that form to AFL level
