I thought this week would have been a good time to announce we’re wearing the bars in the Showdown.

Would have added some spice to this weeks match.

Could have been a huge week.
Announce the PBs, Jonas to stand down as captain and hand over to Ollie for their 200th...and obviously sack Hinkley!!

I really don’t know how credible this is but hopefully

Whether true or not, it could just be AFL House assisting their Port board proxies by providing a distraction from all the Hinkley "discussion".

See this costs AFL House precisely nothing to do, and probably gains Port some additional merch revenue from the PB stream.

Hope it is true, and then we can move swiftly back to "other issues". But to my first point I can see the AFL soft announcing this, then back pedalling on 2022 R23 because reasons, announcing again provisionally for 2023, then again "for sure" somewhere in the off season... following the standard political playbook of maximising the number of announcements and time-spent-discussing-the-thing-they-want-you-focused-on.

We are a soft club. Just wear the bars.
The club is on the nose with Hinkley still here. We aren’t making finals, just wear them every week from here. Don’t tell them in advance, just do it. For TV etc they can’t stop the game if we refuse to change out of. They fine us and a lot of the wavering fans feel engaged again. It should be a no brainer to the club, but they are dumb as well as weak.

At least they would earn a little respect back.... We got nothing to lose.... It would create headlines around the world... More pressure on the AFL... To let us wear what we want.... Just like everyone else has this year FFS

Port Adelaide will be denied the chance to wear its prison-bar jumper in Round 23 with the AFL making it clear the Power can only broker a long-term agreement with Collingwood’s approval.

The Power had been hopeful soft diplomacy could resolve the longstanding impasse after it was revealed last month an official request had been made for the home Round 23 clash with the Crows.

But the league has made clear it will not be able to approve any request for a game to be played in coming weeks, having previously told the Power it is prevented from the use of the historic jumper under AFL rules.

The AFL’s view is that the two clubs will have to work out an agreement if the Power is to wear the jumper, with Port Adelaide having been threatened with the loss of premiership points if it breaks league rules.

From Herald Sun

The only rule is that the you can't wear a jumper that the AFL has not approved - it's wholly up to the AFL to decide on that, not the Collingwood Football Club - that's just a cop out by spineless prick McLacklan, who's obviously made a promise to his good buddy McGuire.

Any club that keeps a no hoper coach a decade has no chance of winning this battle of the bars. The president and board thank you don't forget to fill out another survey

Somehow I don't think our board & CEO wants our club to be member controlled and rather leave it in AFL hands indefinitely to avoid the hard hitting topics. Brings new meaning to our Bay 13 nickname "The Puffers" as that's precisely where our admin is all about. Puff pieces and good news stories.

To be honest, that is an ad hoc rule which could change at the whim of the AFL if tested. If we pulled this stunt, then I imagine they would hit us in the draft instead of premiership points as we are missing finals this season.
