Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Oscar Allen?

Aaron Naughton. I think he recently signed a massive contract, but can the Bulldogs continue to play him, JUH, and Darcy in the same forward line?

Tim Membrey?

Would be hilarious if they picked up Josh Schache.

Membrey would be a cheap short-term option, not sure he'd want to leave Victoria though.

Brisbane might be in a spot of bother.
Hipwood and Cameron aren't going to get any better. Means the burden is going to fall to an inconsistent Rayner, an second year player Lohmann, and Ah Chee.
Maybe someone in the two's can step up, but there's not much around to import.

Starcevich, Rayner, Lohmann, Morris, Fletcher, Answerth, Neale, Ashcroft, Bailey are all out of contract in the next 2 seasons, and all of them will attract serious pay rises while being targeted by other clubs.

Daniher's money doesn't come out of the cap next year, because he wasn't medically retired, so unless he waives all of his money next year they'll still be on the hook for it, though I'd imagine he'll accept a partial payout.

They have 1228 DVI points for Ashcroft and Marshall and are going to need somewhere between 2400 and 3000 points. They can probably get another 300-400 points by trading their 1st rounder this year.
Guys like DevRob, Tunstill, Prior will be lucky to get them 400 points combined.
Then they'll need to trade their future 2nd and 3rd at the very least to make up the difference, but probably the future 1st as well considering the change in DVI scaling next year making their future 3rd a lot less valuable.

So they have little no draft capital for the next 2 seasons and not much cap space to work with.

Best case scenario is Morris or some other kids take a step up, and after that the only realistic options are Membrey as a Free Agent or they get Stringer on the cheap if the Bombers are actually keen to get rid of him for next to nothing.

They'll still be good with Lohmann, Bailey, Cameron, Rayner, thrown into the mix, but they'll need to get creative in how they restructure their forward line. Because they won't be able to replace Daniher with anything besides players from the scrap heap.

Elliott Himmelberg would be mad not to go here.

Sam Day

what a let off if that lions didn't chase him. Hipwoood & Himmelberg would turn the forward line into a key back feasting.
Rather harsh on Hipwood the guy kicked 41 goals in 2023 was injured for half the season this year and kicked 33 he’s not often the target of the inside 50 I can see him 50 goals in a season

Can we offer the Lions
jacob koschitzke

Free to good home and we will even cover 75% of his salary
What do you think the freight costs would be to transport his concrete hands to Brisbane?

There are some decent budget options on the FA market. Trouble is they really need someone to ruck as well.
A healthy Taberner wouldn’t be the worst option. When was the last time he was healthy again?

Could they lure Tom Lynch back to Queensland? He’d be a good option.

There’s a few not so great options in free agency with Matt Taberner, Tim Membrey, Levi Casboult, Adam Tomlinson, or they could trade for Jake Stringer.

Going off on a tangent here.

Why should Joe be paid any money for 2025 ?. He will not be playing, so why should he get paid ?.

I look at it this way, he has a contract to play, for $ XXX a year. Brisbane pay him for services rendered. He withdraws his services, Brissie say thanks, but you are now off our payroll.
