Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Well Dalziell's confirmed not to be homesick, by Voss nonetheless (http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/85590/default.aspx).

Kudos to beausgirl (I think?) who originally contradicted the newspaper articles saying such. Bullshit to the newspapers who basically fed their own feedback loop with the "fact".

It is going to be hilarious if Brisbane do not complete a single trade next week.

I honestly can't say that I'd be upset, given the "calibre" of who we've been linked to. :p

Very possible in my eyes and I am leaning towards this happning but at the same time it looks very likely that Lovett and Raines will be Lions next year and I am on the get Lovett bandwagon!

Also wouldnt mind throwing Raines a lifeline. A new city, club, coach and teamates might turn his career around and see him show his true potenitial! Can't wait for trade week and if nothing happens won't be dissapointed but I do want Lovett badly!

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Seems I'm not the only one who thinks you'll have a hard time holding on to Henderson...

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

People still forget the main point. He would only be hard to keep 'IF' he wanted to leave. Hasn't shown any signs of wanting to leave. Other teams can't just steal him away in the middle of the night.

Exactly.

Blokes considering their options don't extend their contract midway through the season.

The Lions are understood to have secured new deals or in-principle agreements with Rich, Lachlan Henderson, Matthew Leuenberger, James Polkinghorne and Tom Collier.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:mad::mad::mad: Voss just on ten news from the draft camp confirming the Lions interest in Fevola. He said the problem is cash. He also said there is still alot of water to pass under bridge:p. Vossy's favourite line!!! Nothing said of Lovett or anyone else. Fevola would make our forward line amzing but just NO!

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Yer saw that aswell. Browny and Fev in the same forward line will not work!

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Like young Everitt?

You aren't getting Henderson mate. I honestly don't know why you keep trying.

3 Richmond duds does not equal 1 good player.

You need to offer us at least 8 duds.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Why not? Brown and Bradshaw have managed to work fairly well together in the forward line, with the only draw-back being that they both don't offer much in terms of fast chasing of opposition players.

I would suggest that Fevola is a fairly similar, but marginally better full-forward than Bradshaw in most areas and has proven his ability to get ahold of opponents and kick bags.

Fevola's pace could probably enable him to handle being one-out in the forward 50m a bit better than Bradshaw can manage these days, which would mean that having Brown presenting as a marking option in conduit to goal further up the ground wouldn't cost us as much as it has on occasions in the past.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

And the tiges have plenty of those.

The funny thing is I don't think we'd even trade Hendo for Cotchin if it were offered.

Yup. Hendo is simply a vital piece of our future puzzle and is being developed nicely.

Even if he hadn't played a senior game yet I wouldn't be concerned. The fact that he's managed to crack 15 games in 2 years in a team that has Brown and Bradshaw is a bonus.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Brown and Fev in the forward line.....what a headache for opposition coaches. But nah.... thanks but no thanks

Hey turkey. Don't worry about Hendo he is loved by all at the Lions and if he was on the move he wouldn't be stupid enough to go the the tigers.

He is either s***stirring, or he's pretty desperate to get our Hendo. I get the feeling we've got him where we want him.

We may as well demand their first couple of picks too, just to sweeten the deal. What the hell, the Tigers waste their draft picks anyway. ;)

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Is this what the 'Fev to Brisbane' speculation is based on?

Interviewer: Have you ruled out Fevola.

Voss: Never do. Never have with any player and never will.

Gee, sounds like the deal's almost done.

They showed more of that interview on Sports Tonight where Vossy said "money would be the major obstacle".

"money would be the major obstacle....... if we did want him but we don't.":D Really hope thats what Vossy said afterwards:thumbsu:

While I don't think it'll happen, that bit's actually the scary part. Still, I guess Voss is unlikely to say: "Fev being a d***head is the major obstacle".

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

You might not get another chance.....

You want Raines bad - have done so for weeks and even chased him during the year. You stink in clearances when Black is covered. Your window is closing

OR

Pick 12 would get you Lovett, Raines and Tuck and you would be a legitimate flag chance. As it is, you're no threat at all. That's harsh, but accurate. If Brown, Power, Black and Bradshaw are OK just making finals and not doing much once there as per 2009, feel free to pick some kiddie at 12 who might play his first game in those guys' joint farewell match.

Or, flick a back-up player like Henderson for a chance at glory.
