We haven’t won a flag for twenty years and we probably miss the finals this year so on that count you’re correct - but can you point me to what I said (or how I said it) that was arrogant? I’m a Gabba member so have had more than a passing view of the Lions over recent years and don’t feel my comments were inaccurate.

Just ignore it and keep posting. It is the normative toxicity of bigfooty inter-board posting at work. 99% of us can speak to each other like normal human beings.

(To give him the benefit of the doubt he may not have been speaking to your comments)

Maybe I could have explained myself better - as you point out more recently you’re kicking scores but it’s not from a ‘traditional’ couple of key forwards or ‘specialist’ forwards (like a Betts type) but rather a spread of goal kickers that relies on mid-forward players (Zorko, Taylor) to hit the scoreboard regularly.

The Crows own scoring power had dried up significantly this year as well so we’re not exactly firing but it does feel like you have a strong reliance on Hipwood as a young emerging player.

When the Crows are at our best you can pretty much pencil in ten goals from our forwards (Walker, Jenkins, Lynch, McGovern & Betts) and so covering the gap to a winning score (say fifteen goals) is not a stretch...I don’t see that with the Lions yet.
:D Even our fullbacks kick the occasional goal. We essentially have 18 potential goal kickers on the ground at any one time (if Stef Martin is on the bench:p).
Much rather that than relying on your 6 forwards.
Besides that, our key forwards have been having a good run in the past few weeks.

If Walker keeps up his good form, what happens next week with the likely return of Daniel Andrews? Ideally Walker keeps his spot, but then we fall into the scenario of being too tall and messing up what’s been working so well lately.
Keep that for the SR&P board Milk.

We may have won 3 games in a row and a bit **** a hoop at the moment but let's not pretend that our list doesn't have some holes still.

We're still very shallow depth wise, something most were bemoaning only a week or so pre bye and we still rely on our mids to kick a large percentage of goals in a lot of games. We're on the improve but comments like the previous one about our forward line mix aren't baseless .

Let's be positive and pumped, but lambasting people for reasonable comments is a bit OTT imo

Worried about this one, get the feeling that a reality check is on its way. I would be happy to hold them anywhere inside five goals.
I’m feeling one of those close heartbreaker losses by about 7 or points

Yeah, I’m surprised people are disputing this. For instance, I don’t think we’ve got another KPF or KPD on the list outside the current 22 or injury list that I’d be confident in giving a run to. Cox was the next back flanker on the list and looks like he needs more development time. The midfield next rung isn’t all that impressive either.

If depth is our issue I'm fine with that, the last few years the amount of plodders who were walk up starts in our best 22 was laughable.

Our current list has a very solid starting 22 now and will gain another top 6 pick + another decent draftee.

Interesting that our key back's are decently stocked considering the loss of Clarke, Eagles showed decent signs and Walker has rejuvenated his career.

Key forwards would have been stocked as well if Schache had of stayed.

I'm really not convinced our depth is all that bad. I completely agree that if we were to have a large injury toll we wouldn't have the depth to cover it, but I doubt most teams would have the depth to do so.

We've lost Andrews only for Walker to replace him and play career best football. Earlier in the year we lost Beams and Cutler came in and took his opportunity to become a best 22 player. Cameron goes down and Barrett steps in and provides a strong pressure forward role. Hodge goes down and Cox steps in and has played his most defensively sound game to date. Not to mention we had guys like Eagles and Big O who were mere depth this time last year step up and become best 22.

We've got blokes like Smith, Mayes, Bastinac, Bewick and Bell who can plug holes where needed, along with young guys like Hinge, Starc and Bailey pushing for an opportunity.

Our depth isn't perfect, but really what team's is? I feel we've got a bunch of guys who can come in and play a role when required and we'll only add to that depth heading next year.

The KPD/KPF position could go either way. If most or all of Skinner, Wooller, Payne, Eagles, Ballenden and Fullarton come on and Frost actually delivers something we could be blessed with a surplus. But, however you look at it, you are spot on we are short on quality midfielders (probably two) and a half back flanker; and I would add a pressure small forward.

Long term, absolutely, I think we’re in pretty good shape. But I see depth as a measure of your bench strength right now. Not sure I’d want a lot of those guys named in the side next week.

Not sure Crows fans would be too keen on Keath getting a game. If he's worse than Hartigan then they're in trouble.

Crows also don't have a backup ruck. Looking at the emergencies this week I think I prefer ours.

Got a feeling we are going to come crashing back down to reality with a comprehensive loss. I'd love to be wrong.

Right now, with our current injury list our depth is Hodge, Allison, Bailey, Keays, a bunch of players who will be delisted over the next two years, and a bunch of unproven kids. And Sam Mayes.

To be honest that sounds like the 17 other sides.....the way the list management system works will never be a case of having 6 or so guys who are high quality not getting a game every week. Every list is in a state of flux, with best 22 locks, guys on the way out, guys that need development etc.

Makes the GC poster comments more bemusing.

Keath is better than Hartigan IMO but hasn't played many games.
Jenkins usually 2nd rucks.

Surprised Talia is playing. Would have thought he was no chance. Reckon he'll be a late out.

CEY is their travelling emergency so if that was to happen you'd assume McGovern would have to play down back.

IMO the team selection video is just a simple mistake, I don't think we'd be into giving cryptic clues re team line ups.

On another note Lester was on The Roar Deal today, I don't think I've heard him in an extended interview before, pretty impressive, well worth the listen. Tom Fullarton was on as well.
It’s a good listen for those that have it in for Froggy. Sounds like he has been played out of position.

It's a strange one. Because he's so slow it's difficult to play him down back or as an inside midfielder but that's mentally where he prefers to play because he can't accumulate the footy.

I always thought he'd end up on the wing but if he doesn't know how to find the footy then it's pretty pointless.

If we get up tomorrow night the lid will be well and truly off, imagine the love for us next week in the MSM. No excuses for the Crows, they simply must win to stay in the race.

It's funny because pre bye with almost the same team (if not better given Andrews was still in the side) almost all of us were bemoaning guys like bastinac, Mayes, bewick, bell etc and how they would offer little in the seniors given they were and are still struggling in the reserves.

The only thing that's really changed since then is that we've actually won some games, yet we're now confident they could come in and do the job very few of us thought they were up for only a few weeks ago. It's not like they are in great form in the ressies all of a sudden.

Now perhaps given we're getting more contributors every game than before, couple could be absorbed a bit easier now, but we're still a long way behind where we need to be depth wise.

Top teams are much better in their depth in general so we do have a long way to go. Imo the gc poster was pretty much spot on, the fact that the team he supports is even worse right now doesn't make his point less valid. The biggest issue with the culture on this whole site is this sort of reaction to someone who just happens to primarily support another team having an opinion on our side.

Supporting a different side doesnt automatically invalidate ones opinion as being incorrect or off the mark. There's plenty of opposition supporters that have much more valid and correct observations on the lions than a large number people here

Good Luck for the game against the cows .. and may your team have a victory (hopefully big) for their 500th game ..
