Going to be a big game for Harris with a bit of a role change, spent most of the year trying to intercept mark and Payne plays as the lock down defender. He is going to have to play a lock down role on one of Curnow or McKay.

Bit nervous about that given his performance against Lord in the 1st week, but back him in to have one of those vintage performances where he blankets his man and helps his team mates out spoiling and crashing packs.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23

Brisbane v Carlton at the Gabba, 5.15pm AEST

BRISBANE

In:
D.Gardiner
Out:
J.Payne (ankle), J.Lyons (sub)

QF sub: Jarryd Lyons

Good luck Darcy Gardiner!

Low key how good is it having someone the quality of Gardiner as your backup defender. A 150 gamer with proven best 22 ability.
Hopefully Gardiner plays a blinder and keeps his spot for the Grand final.

He was worth watching when we were crap.

Only Lester, Zorks are left.

UMPIRES: Nick Foot (2), Matt Stevic (9), Robert Findlay (23), Andre Gianfagna (27)

No Williamson. That's a good start.

Three Victorians and a Tasmanian.

Dizz or Lester get the Curnow match up? Either way it isn’t ideal I guess. Think I’d give Dizz first crack and hope like he’ll he pulls out one of those ripper “first game back” type games.

Like Macca225 said, I do worry how this affects Harris’ game. He’s not a great lockdown defender, but with Payne there this year he hasn’t needed to be. That may change a bit now.

Don't mind those 4, hopefully they have very little influence on the result.

Is there a scenario where Dizzy and Lester get Curnow and McKay and Harris get the resting ruck De Koning or Pittonet and back his ability to drop off and help out the other 2. And be there as break glass if 1 of the big 2 get off the leash.

Won’t be that big of a role change, Harris in his AA years was an intercept beast with Gardiner playing lock down. They work well together, back Dizzy in.

Makes me really sad to see someone who has been a mainstay all year miss a game to injury at this point. Chance of missing a grand final is devastating.

Yeah, there is always some hard luck stories though. Payne and Ashcroft are young and have a lot ahead of them.

Richie is the one that really hurts.

Only 1 of the goals was a bad error from Andrew’s in that port game- that one on the line.
The others were good snaps and a flat hard kick coming in that no defender would have stopped.

Confident he will play well.

Foot is a bit of a spud at times but he’s not a completely lunatic like Williamson. Don’t mind the other three

Very true for long standing servants.

I am a big proponent of those who play significant part of the year should get premiership medals. I dont know how many games that should be. But so many unfairly missout
