Could Lester take Curnow ? Similar height. Prefer his experience over Joyce.

Lester -> Curnow
Payne/Gardiner -> McKay
Andrews -> DK

Lester has been doing a role this year, but the one occasion he found himself marking Curnow back in round 8? Curnow scored his one and only goal for the game. Curnow also too fast for Lester.
IF Payne is 'managed' , 'rested' , out injured, then IMO Dizzy is probably a better matchup on Curnow

Blues have had a good finals run, but hope the win against Melbourne turns out to be their grand final. Gabbatoir will be rocking!

I don't care about stats. I don't rate Carlton. They've lucked into finals. The blue frauds will be sent home with nothing but bad memories. Us to beat them easily. The real King Charlie will have a field day (& "Country Road" will be blasting endlessly) while the blue fraud fake will be well held by Chief.

GO THE LIONS!

As far as Dizz goes he's good defensively which is his schtick. You lose a lot of the run that Lester has displayed since he got back in. To bring Dizz in for a prelim after hardly playing all year and as far as I recall people on here calling for his head half the time is a big call.

Unless injury dictates that we have no choice. Personally I'd prefer not to have him back at this point but they must have left him out of the reserves side this week for some reason. I would've thought he needed all the match practice he could get.

Mayhap, if Jack does not get up, Darcy is what we need. Purely defensive, but to negate Curnow -is it worth sacrificing a bit of attack?

Never forget… the last time Carlton played us in a do or die final.

I remember that game. Was on a footy trip at the time. A group of us stopped in at a little cafe/bar to cheer on the boys. We were deemed too loud and told to leave. There were no other customers in the place bar our small group. The place lost the bucket of cash they would've made in beer sales. Good times :)

It’s a bit too real now I’m scared.

Scared of what though? The only reason the blues beat Melbourne was bcos the dees couldn't kick straight. Same with the Sydney game. They're frauds who got in by luck. And if they beat us it'll be bcos the umps have been directed to give them a leg up.

There's nothing to fear from Carlton. We've got the man power to beat them easily.

What’s he banged on about this time - professing how great those VIC clubs and what imposters those interstate teams are.
It has been absolutely chunderous, we have not even been mentioned, i really hope we thrash them on Saturday.

It beggars belief to me how Robbo has that job, he looks and talks like a drunk that sleeps under a bridge...

If Payne is out, is it safe to assume it’ll just be a direct swap with Dizz?

How will that change the match ups if at all?

Can Dizz be expected (trusted) to take Curnow off no senior games for a couple of months?

If Payne is somehow a risk but the club still want to gamble and start with him, Gardiner will be the sub.
However, playing injured players is risky and it did not work out well for Port.
If Payne does not get up, Gardiner comes in.
Gardiner has played 2 AFL games & 11 VFL games.
So fit enough to play a role which he has done for many years.

Lester will not get replaced for the PF.

What about Gunston vs DevRob. I’d be very reluctant to bring Gunston in and change a winning formula but Carlton are pretty light on with tall backs. DevRob didn’t set the world on fire vs Port.

Unless there is an injury we shouldn't touch the side - it's settled.

If this happens, I think the Giants will be the neutrals favorite.

Hell, if it's Giants and anyone else I'm going for the Giants. Love their jersey, orange looks good in a crowd and there song is catchy.
Yeah the vibe around the Giants seems completely different this time around. In 2019 I seem to remember they were completely on the nose as a "plastic/invented club" and even all the neutrals were barracking for Richmond, which spoke volumes.

You don't bring in a 32 year old slow player who is short of match practice into a high intensity Prelim or GF... IMO we would also miss Dev Robertson defensive gut running and sacrificial game style.

Sad attempts to bait me just won’t work. Anyone at this stage who suggests Lester is omitted is really just showing they don’t know much about football.

Lester (192cm) thrashed Finlayson (197 cm) in the Qualifying Final, again demonstrating his ability to play “tall”. Finlayson kicked a single behind and had a paltry 6 disposals and tellingly, only two marks. He also matched up on Powell-Pepper at different stages, with his goal saving run down tackle and subsequent free kick a highlight that drew praise from fans and commentators alike.

Andrews and Payne need to take McKay and De Koning, which means Lester should get a crack at Curnow. I would back him in. He hasn’t let us down and I don’t think he will. He has been for months and remains one of our most consistent and in form defenders.
