Depends if it contravened anything if you took that action. Did it?
Had the AFL not intervened we would have a much more stable, united board with a common direction. Now because of the AFL wanting to avoid a EGM our the chairman they appointed is more concerned with the state of a training facility in Springwood to line his back pocket than the footy club. Swann is the front runner to come in to fill the vacant CEO role, which should help. How would you rate his work at Collingwood?

Well the aim was to oust a completely dysfunctional board and replace it with the challenging ticket fronted by Lethal via an EGM. Andy D threatened to take away much needed funding if it went ahead so the opposing ticket had no choice but to compromise much to us members dismay

A good administrator, very good financially except for his involvement in our pubs fiasco. But he has done wonders at Carlton and has the ability to get the right people into a club. You could do a lot worse. But be careful of empire building.

I didn't read why he did that. Must have had some reason.

I cldnt care less. That's not Collingwoods doing. If you have an issue with the AFL, take it up with them. Did Eddie cause this? You lot seem to want to blame him for every other problem.

Eddie had nothing to do with it, you brought him up not me. He has though tried to use his influence to white ant us ever since Collingwood lost in 02

One of you brought him up. I'm not a huge Eddie fan. I don't like when he opens his mouth. But I do love how he fixed my club. And I do get a laugh at the indignation he causes because I think a lot of it is contrived. He positions himself perfectly for what he wants to achieve.

You lot have to get over 10 yr ago stuff. Seriously it's so far removed from our psyche, you have to understand, what is happening now and in the future drowns that stuff out. I don't begrudge any team their flags. I only look to when our next is. Until someone comes up with a way to change the past, that ain't going to change.

Tell Eddie that.

Yeah, sure no probs...as long as we get the 1.4 million financial assistance that the AFL gave you, plus the assistance in getting Paul Roos as a coach, plus the extra $400,000 per year you get as part of the new equalisation measures.

No probs. Happy to give up all that. Wouldn't care if Carlton played Ganmain Grong Grong or Collingwood as long as they won against whoever is put in front of them. The AFL assistance will help you more than Carlton's financial gain of playing Richmond twice a year. Anyway, next year I expect Carlton to playing double the amount of games against bottom 6 sides..so who knows you may get your scheduling wish next year.

Not happy with Malthouse then?

And the AFL won't let you disappear. We had no such guarantees 15 yrs ago. The AFL should come in, fix your back room and then sit back and see what else if anything should happen. That is all you can ask for.

That is all we're asking for.

What should be really concerning is how the talent is bleeding from the Lions. Do all clubs face this issue? Not even close.

Losing 10 of their 19 first round picks since 96 is a joke. And that doesn't include the depth players. Victorian clubs would ever see that level of churn.

I don't think the Lions should be left to bleed until they cannot compete. If they earn a draft pick they should have the same chance to retain them as their competitors. Now they simply don't.

They lost 5 players just last year. And last week kicked 1 point in a half of football. But for these boards this is the preferred outcome.

Do you know why they lost those players?

I believe Collingwood having to compete with 9 other Melbourne clubs in a city of 4.35 million for their revenue is a lot bloody harder than the 2.2mill you have to yourself but managed to disenfranchise .

Now that is an inequality you haven't mentioned, isn't it!!

By this logic the Melbourne Storm must be the richest club...

Never should have sacked voss

He had them playing decent footy, and they were on the up

What is needed, a complete overhaul of their administration, including the entire coaching department
I'd go as far as offering up the team for sale to the qld government

bald-head guvment don't buy teams like brisbane. They sell off teams like Geelong when it's 2006.

He is the Paul Roos of the private sector.

No, they've been paying only 95% for a number of years now
So how is a retention allowance going to change anything?

Players clearly aren't leaving for more money.

Do you know why they lost those players?

The Age listed "homesickness" and my recollections would say the same..

It's more subtle these days. Prior to that it was just blatent. You would know if you followed Anthony Rocca's and Buckley's arrivals at your club closely.

Buckley was hilarious. He refused to play in a non traditional state despite being zoned to the bears in 92. He opted to play an extra year in the SANFL rather than go. Then he did a deal with the Bears where he would play with them for one year on the condition they traded him after one season. Draft tampering? Of course not ;)

I'm sure Eddie had no complaints about that fiasco.

These days it's much less overt. But it gets out pretty quickly during trade periods when a player euphemistically 'asks for a release'. Perhaps you've read about a few?

I'm a native South Australian (spent a week on the Gold Coast once, but that's the only time I've been to QLD), and don't class myself as a connoisseur by any means, but I don't actually find XXXX Gold to be that bad. Certainly not as bad as the reputation suggests, anyway.

I believe the recipe was changed a few years back to something that is drinkable. QLD is a mid-strength beer haven and ease of drinkability always trumps flavour or taste.
