Expansion Brisbane's compensation for Rischitelli

Sorry but that last part was completely unnecessary. Rischa has had a great season.

Have you ever thought to consider the fact that Rischa is 24? Rischa is hitting his peak, Bock is on the decline. That is why Rischa is worth more.

So last year he wasnt required, this year he is worth 5 top ten picks.....ROFL

So far I think they've got all the levels of compensation right.

Bock may have been worth a top 10 pick 2 years ago but certainly not now. He's older, he's injury prone, he didn't do a lot this year. End of first round sounds right.
Risca has been a decent player for a few years and this year stepped up a lot. He's no superstar but he's definately a good player who'll play every week for them.
Krakour showed some pretty awesome signs but not great quantity and not this year. So he's definately not a first round but still for what he's shown, a second round is pretty decent

Wait, so the guy who is apparently on $750K is worth less than the guy apparently on $500K?

Krak isn't even on that much.

And we're getting the same as Brisbane and Power?

Based on his income alone, Bock is worth at least one first rounder; and in the context of Burgoyne, Jolly, McLean and Gibson, that's at least his value.

Absolute bullshit.

Bock's 27 guys, he isn't Cameron Bruce or Brad Johnson.

He's in his prime and he'll be invaluable to the GC who were in need of a rock solid defender, who not only provides amazing attach (led AFL in bounces for some period), but will be able to teach a guy like Mathew Watson how it's done.

His price tag shows his worth.

To extend your logic:

Assuming (as risky as it is) that the dollar figures in the media are anywhere near accurate (or at least equally inflated) and that both will play til they're 30, Bock would earn $2.25m (3 x $750k) as opposed to Rischa earning $3m (6 x $500k).

So yes, the younger guy on $500k is worth more based on the criteria that the AFL and the clubs settled on.

Further to that, given their respective injury histories which would you put your money on playing longer?

I've stated elsewhere that I believe Band 3 is underpaying for both, while Band 2 (best case) is overpaying. Needs a middle ground.

No it doesn't. Krak is on a reported 450k per year, you really think that he's worth that much??

Gold Coast salaries are inflated, don't go by them.

Anyway I find it funny that crows fans bag Bock and say he's old ect when he left (I can find the quotes) but when they get a band 3 for him they say what a wonderful player he still is. Just what hutchy was saying on Monday night.

Bock is worth far more than Rischitelli, arguing otherwise is borderline delusional.
Exactly.

This compensation thing is turning into a farce. It looks like we are getting shafted by the AFL. Bock is definitely worth a first rounder (pick 10-15) and Rischa is worth probably 15-25. Krakeour is worth a half eaten donut.

You usually don't get anything at all for an uncontracted player walking out on your club, so I don't see much to compalin about. Take your pick and be glad you got anything at all. Gold Coast was always going to massively shaft clubs, there's not much left to do but bend over and take it so they can have their premiership.

That's a ridiculous way to look at it.

Bock is worth $750k a season RIGHT NOW.

Risch isn't, and may never be.

That may be your opinion, but that's essentially the revised formula on which the clubs agreed (GC Contract value + likely future earnings).

He 'walked out' on our Club because the GC could offer him unmatchable income; he wouldn't have left otherwise.

Comparing this to a situation like Stevens leaving Port or Ball leaving the Saints is mental.

He still walked though. He was uncontracted and offered a better deal. You can't really equate it to trading or complain about his trade value because you didn't trade him.

We've known about these ridiculous concessions for ages now, we knew GC was absolutely going to ream the hell out of the current clubs, there's pretty much no sense complaining about it now. Most clubs will lose a player for peanuts if not to GC then to GWS, lets get used to the reality and move on.
