Re: Brownlow Medal

After Round 19:

L Montagna 24
C Judd 21
G Ablett 20
D Swan 20
L Hayes 19
J Brown 18
J Selwood 18
N Dal Santo 17
B Goddard 16
A Didak 16
B Gibbs 15
A Goodes 15
S Mitchell 14
S Johnson 14
S Black 13

I didn't really give anyone in the top 10 votes. Judd got 1. Swan could have got 1. Goodes, Didak, Gibbs moved up a bit.
Judd will probably get 3 or Friday night. A bit more flashy then usual and seemed to have a bit more space then usual. I didn't think he was BOG but the umpires probably will...

Hmmmm. I didn't wanna be too biased. Thought Thornton was a standout, and Gibbs was pretty good. Might get the 2 ahead of Gibbs though. First Carlton match in Melbourne I missed though.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Throw Harvey in as well. $3000 to 1! haha. I have LeCras, Montagna, Tredrea, Watson, Brown and Harvey all leading atm. (Not Boyd, but he is close). So I like the bet, but these kinds of things never work how they should.

I have $$$ on them ALL indiviudally (again, barring Boyd). :thumbsu:

Haha so true.
Good to see we have similar views, out of curiosity who do you have leading for the Dogs? and what about Melbourne / Richmond I thought that because the winners for these clubs will have relatively low votes something small on an outsider may be worth it, ie Moloney/Sylvia to beat Davey or Tuck/Jackson to beat Deledio.

I have Cross, Higgins, Aker, Boyd, Cooney all really close. Cross ahead though. I wouldn't trust me when it comes to the bulldogs.

However, for Richmond, Cousins on 6, Deledio 5, Tambling/Riewoldt 4. Unsure.

Melbourne- I have Bruce leading on 5. About 4 others on 3.

Definitely more interested in Bris/Ess/Fre/NM/Port/WCE for mine though.

I was in Melbourne this week so I watched the Essendon v Brisbane and Sydney v Richmond games live. Watched Friday night, but the rest of the votes are based on reading the match reports. I haven't got enough time to watch the replays so I could be a bit off with some of them. I'm voting for who I think the umpires will vote for from now on, so I went back and changed my votes from the previous rounds. I'll as the club leaderboards as well since I've changed my votes.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Wood was a clear BOG imo. Best game from a Collingwood ruckman in half a decade or more I'd say (not saying a whole heap, but still).

Re: Brownlow Medal

Leaderboard and some quick club votes aswell. I have Pendles up there, but Boyd only on 7. By my count only Judd, Ablett, Montagna, Brown, Pendles, Swan, Didak and Lenny can possibly win it, Chapman if he's back next week.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Will the umpires see it that way?
Possibly not. He did kick the final goal of the game to stick in their memories though.

I didn't see the game but when I got home tonight it seems Didak being elite again was on the BF agenda last night.
Haha i thought of all people you'd know that doesn't really mean a heap.

Didak would be a shoo in for my 2 votes though, him getting the three votes wouldn't be a shock.

I went to the game. Wood was outstanding, Didak was clearly BOG. People are going to favour Wood because it was a major step up from past performances.

Didak kicked 2 goals and setup a huge number of others, clearly deserves the 3 votes.

Haha, true. Maybe Swan could have grabbed a vote as well?

Ablett looks like he is in a form slump or injured so it might be 07 and 08 all over again for him. Close, but no cigar.

Re: Brownlow Medal

I'd get on Selwood to top Geelong's votes as soon as possible. Ablett's slipping very fast so now might be the last chance. TAB's odds are suspended but Selwood seems to be second favorite.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Not many votes up the top this week for me
23 - Hayes, Ablett
22 - Montagna
18 - Swan, Dal Santo
16 - Selwood, Didak, Goddard
15 - Boyd
14 - Chapman, Pendlebury

Re: Brownlow Medal

BROWNLOW vote magnet Adam Goodes is on target for another victory in the award he has already won twice.

His average Champion Data ratings score this year is 113, which compares well with his Brownlow years of 2003 (124) and 2006 (120).
His average of 21.3 possessions a game this year is a career-high, as is his average of 9.1 contested possessions a match.
And, importantly, his 30 goals this year are his most since he booted 34 in 23 games in 2001.
His 2009 tally of 173 contested possessions is the sixth highest in the AFL, as is his 95 inside-50s this year.
To put it simply, Goodes has had a year where you would expect umpires to vote for him.

Imagine if he actually became a triple Brownlow medalist. He has had a very good season but he definitely doesn't sit amongst guys like Skilton.

Mate, I think you are forgetting the umpires love-affair with Juddy. An average of 0.7 votes a game suggests he will be up there this year. I know he hasn't been as scintillating as in previous years but it has definitely been his most consistent year since 2004 (look at 2006 - hampered by injuries in part). First eight rounds of this year were better for Judd than the first eight rounds of 2007 where he over-performed in the Brownlow.

He has had an outstanding year if you ask me.

I agree with you and he will be right up there in the votes :thumbsu:

Also i noticed a few people have Lenny Hayes right up there still, Sportingbet have him at $41. Could be some value there along with Goodes.

Last night I went back and changed my votes to who I think the umpires will vote for. Boyd looks pretty good. Black, Thompson and Goodes normally poll well.

Looks good. Just word of warning rounds 4-6 you have Judd on no votes. That is fine but I went to two of those games (rd 5 & 6) and Judd was very good in both. Maybe just outside vote-getting range but he, like Adam Goodes, just knows how to be eye-catching and I wouldn't discount him stealing three off Simpson for the Bulldogs game and 3 off Roughead and Fev (who umpires don't like) in round 6. Also, outside chance to snare votes against Sydney (albeit very outside).
Watch out for those three 2s to start his season. Could very well be given three 3 votes. I thought he was best against Richmond and was slightly ahead of Stanton against Essendon. Gibbs should have 3 parcelled up against Brisbane but who knows.

I'll be the first to agree with you. But when it comes to Judd I am so incredibly bias that I have to tone it done and think rationally.

Re: Brownlow Medal

I have Judd on 13. Dunno why, that's just the way it happened round by round. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him finish higher but yeah I think there'd be a couple of games where he's on the fringe of 1 or 2 votes where I left him out.

Re: Brownlow Medal

No real value left on the Team Markets apart from Pav (Might be worth the $3.60), Boyd (still at $2), and Hayes (Into $8).

Selwood shortened into $2.5 from $3.5 before they were suspended. Boomer shortened as well into $1.80.

Couss worth a inclusion at $3.50 (Player not Quoted)?

Went a very speculative Boyd/Pav/Cousins/Davey/LeCras/Tredrea/Harvey @ 3466 :p

I'm bored, as you could probably tell

Add inside 50's and hard ball gets to that

Re: Brownlow Medal

This week Judd moved into first on mine up to 23 over Ablett 22, otherwise not much else happened up the top. Didak moved to 16.
