Re: Brownlow Medal

I think Blacky was one of the major key reasons Brisbane got back in the final term. His cleareance work was superb. I would go 3) Clark, 2)Black and 1)Watson
I agree exactly with this...watched the game and the 2nd half twice and am almost certain that Black will poll....was awesome in last qtr with lots of tackles, knock ons etc. as well as classy touches. Black can win the medal I reckon and Bris may win 2 more games which means hepas more than last year and Black has had the same sort of year.

I was in Melbourne this week so I watched the Essendon v Brisbane and Sydney v Richmond games live. Watched Friday night, but the rest of the votes are based on reading the match reports. I haven't got enough time to watch the replays so I could be a bit off with some of them. I'm voting for who I think the umpires will vote for from now on, so I went back and changed my votes from the previous rounds. I'll as the club leaderboards as well since I've changed my votes.

Crikey, your votes for the weekend almost mirror mine...I've been thinking like an umpire for 5 years ! It's a lucrative way to think.
My leaderboard currently is :
Judd 27
Selwood 25
Black 24
Hayes 24
Ablett 23
Goodes 22
Swan 21

I have Boyd well in front at Dogs, Deledio leading Rich, Stanton at Ess, Thompson just over Vince at Adel, Mitchell over Sewell, Harvey a moral at North, Goodes, Black, Hayes, Selwood ( Gazza injured ) should all win. I've got some great multis going and expect to win big.
Cross and Cousins worry me if there are to be any dangers. I reckon that Freo, Port, WC all too hard and Swan, Judd too short.

Quinellas are a great option and value and I won big on the Cooney - Black last year. I've taken all combos involving Judd, Selwood, Black, Goodes, Hayes...am risking Swan and Ablett. The key is to hit 2 at odds and the price can be big. e.g. got on the Goodes-Black at $315 at Tab today - before anyone logs on it's into $150.
Still great value out there to be had but we must remember that there are 3 weeks left and 9 potential votes out there for every player.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Imagine if he actually became a triple Brownlow medalist. He has had a very good season but he definitely doesn't sit amongst guys like Skilton.

I agree. Goodesy must have been an ump in his past life and can actually poll when he doesn't even play ! He has polled pretty much double the expectation in the last 2 years and believe it or not he could actually be a mile in front !!!!!!!
I have him on 22 and have lobbed him votes pretty freely but he could be on more than that.

Nice, Agree with nearly everything you said. How confident are you on Stanton though, he is the only one you said who I really think is not leading, I have Watson comfortably ahead of him?

I think that it will be a lean year at Ess for votes really.
I have Stanton polling 2-3 in rounds 3, 7 and 15 and 1's in rounds 5 and 12.
I have Watson with 2 on the weekend and that's it for big games. I have 1's in rounds 2,8 and 12...lots of games where is close but no cigar IMO.
gee Stanton is short compared to watson and I did swap them around in some multi's as savers.
What have you got at Ess ?

Re: Brownlow Medal

Out of interest what games did you have him polling in? Would have thought Watson and Winderlich would be quite a way ahead of him.
I just commented back but the bookies at the TAB obviously agree that Stanton will be hard to beat...polling history of his is better ( admittedly not flash ) than Watson's.

I've given Watson 1 in 6 games, a 2 and a 3 in round 12. Total : 11
Got Winderlich with bogs in Rounds 2, 9 and a 2 in round 15. Total: 9
Stanton has a 3 for rounds 7 and 15, didn't give him anything else. Total: 6

I'm relying on watson in quite a few multis, probably around 30%. We will see I guess. Otherwise, can't argue with you on anything, hope Ablett can just beat Selwood though. I have Ablett 2 votes ahead but I think Selwood will power home in final 3 games anyway.

EDIT: Harvey is in like 70% of my multis. Is this bad? Hope HMac doesn't somehow beat him.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Watson 11, Winderlich 9, Stanton 7 for me.

I have Joel Selwood on 8 so seeing him on 25 shocks me.... each to their own, we all discuss it but at the end of the day we will all back ourselves in.

And I agree Swan at 1.07 is way unders I actually have Didak 16 Swan 14 so I will probably have a little bit on Dids.

I think that you will find that Stanton was great in R3 against Carlton and will fight Jud for the 3 ( Ess won ). I reckon that Watson will miss lots of the 1's but agree that if he gets them he can win Ess and that's why I don't rate Stanton a cert.
Re boomer I reckon he's a moral and have anchored him as well in a fair few multis. Simmo retiring didn't hurt as I had him going OK. I'm happy to risk Mcintosh. Petrie has had an ordinary year but may have got 3 on the weekend so we don't want him playing another big 1 or 2.

H-mac has been getting good DT/SC scores but I'm not sure he's done enough to poll. Certainly not eyecatching IMO.

Was at that game and gave Watson 2. So that's probably where all the difference lies in the votes (+4 differential).

Yeh was great that Simpson retired. I got on Harvey @ $3 individually too.

Out of intrerest, who do you have leading Port, Freo and WCE. Pavlich just polls so well I think he can beat Sandi regardless of the ruckmens good year. Port/WCE very tough indeed.

Re Selwood I actually think he can win the medal and he could be the one who polls through his rear this year !
I actually reckon he can lead half way and am on him for a fair bit at $34 as I have him only 2 off Ablett / Judd half way so great value.
Selwood 09 vs 08 ( excludes finals )
- poss ave = 28.5 vs 25
- 30+ disposals in games Geel won = 9 vs 6
- Frees for 51 ( no. 1 in AFL ! ) vs 57 - I love the frees for as it registers with the umps as they blwo the whistle
- tackles 98 vs 68

He polled 19 last year and really could be the one this year.

I really do hate the votes at those 3 clubs this year and always have at Port. I don't like Cox or Sandilands but find it hard to find people to beat them. Lecras and Cox equal at WC, Hasleby 1 in front of Pavlich and Sandi at Freo and Tredrea 1 vote in front of Pearce at Port but personally I wouldn't go near them and anything could happen over the next 3 weeks.

Yeh port are always ridiculous. I also have Tredrea just ahead, hope port lose there next 3 as I put a bit on @ $6 earlier in the year haha.

Got LeCras and Cox even as well, but Cox polled so bad last year I've put $ on LeCras.

and so true on JSelwood, to think how well he polled last year and he is even better this year. Finally, thoughts on Hayes? Don't understand why he is SO long for Saint Kilda. Should be at least ahead of Riewoldt, Goddard and NDS imo.

Good luck for the year anyway, I'm sure you won't need it though. :thumbsu::)

Re: Brownlow Medal

Fair enough I only have Selwood polling in 4,7,10,16,17 with 1 BOG, I have had him in my Dream Team this season so have watched him relatively closely. He just seems to do enough each quarter for mine, whilst you have SJ, Chappy, Gazza who have games where they are clearly the standout. Selwood did that Vs Hawks but at no other stage this season for mine.

I cannot understand the Hayes one either. If it wasn't for the super long price I'd really like him. They eased him from $4.50 to $9 for most votes Stk 2 weeks ago. I put him in multis as well and he made the odds massive. I am sure that he will beat Riew, NDS, and have only mild doubt re Joey M and see BJ as the danger.
Good luck to you too, I'm sure we should clean up on some of the multis. You can multi the quinella into StK for the flag so do yourself a favour and get something on the Judd-Selwood quinella into Stk.

I hope you don't bet then as I have him polling in 13 games with 4 BOGs. He will surely surpass last season's tally of 19.

What about Carlton. ;)

hahaha I joke. Will definitely take a look at the quinellas.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Wish I saw the Quinellas earlier. Good value on Judd/Selwood @ 18

Multi that into Geelong/St.Kilda @ 2.20 and Fev Coleman @1.80, @ $72

Can get some serious value on some combinations like Goodes/Selwood, or Black/Selwood both over $40
