Two first round draft picks? Come on man. We were asking for overs.

Look, I've said my bit. Im highly disillusioned with the club, and think this is a sliding doors moment that we'll look back on as a massive missed opportunity. My bet is this backfires on the club spectacularly.

Im incredibly dissapointed with the club right now.

If he wants to go next year, we're still going to get a 1st at a minimum, so at the very worst we lose a future late 3rd.
It's hardly wrist slashing time.

And we were pigheadedly sticking to 2 x 1sts. The obvious middle ground is a 1st and a 2nd.

if he wasn't contracted for three years then SOS would have been more reasonable and pragmatic. the blues could not been seen to lose on this one. Believe me this helps us gain some respect among the clubs that we are serious and wont be bullied.

who knows next year if he wants to again go home SOS may accept a first and second round pick if it helps get fyffe otherwise gibba stays

If Bryce is to be furious with anyone, it should obviously be Adelaide. If they seriously only offered up pick 13 and pick 40-something, that is an absolute epic fail.

I agree about the line in the sand thing. Pretty sure we've lamented about some players "going home" or wanting to be elsewhere and not getting good enough compensation.

No more.

Not trolling just a legitimate question.

Gibbs is a 10 year player who had legitimate reasons for needing to go home. He showed his intended loyalty by signing a long term deal and turning his back on free agency. Why are you happy you are screwing over a player who showed genuine loyalty until he had a legitimate reason to leave? Adelaide didn't do this, Gibbs approached Adelaide. Regardless of whether or not each clubs supporters think their own clubs won or lost this non trade, I just know Gibbs and his family, maybe his personal life circumstances took a massive blow tonight. Gibbs is the massive 'loser' in this deal. Toying with a players personal circumstances when serious is purely disgusting by anyones standards. More to life then footy.

You reckon Gibbs is going to give it his all next year for us? Not questioning his professionalism, but people are people.

We've just been pigheaded and retained a senior player against his will. I highly doubt I could play at my peak with a gun to my head.

This dance happens again next year, and his value will be even less. If that doesn't work, he walks the year after, at 30 years of age and uncontracted for a packet of twisties.

It was shockingly bad list management by the club.
I agree with you....This is a disaster and puts our rebuild back.
I have big questions regarding SOS and his stubborness.
Other clubs move forward and get deals done.....
We now have recruited three blokes that have been all injured for the last 2-3 years.......
And gotten rid of a solid half back flanker who hardly misses a game.
I wonder whether our wonderful Board is happy ????
My son and I are pretty disgusted with our efforts !!!!!

Because he had a heavily front ended contact and having served the 2 already Carlton wanted fair compensation considering he had 3 years remaining. If Bryce was not contracted we would of received pick 6. Perhaps the way Adelaide valued Bryce and released a press conference to announce it was part of the reason.
Adelaide needed to realize Gibbs was the missing puzzle and should have been prepared to trade pick 13 and say a McGovern. Need to give up something good sometimes. You offered Lyons who ended up traded for pick 44.

It was 13 + a 3rd (whcih is unders). We wanted 13 + a 1st (which is way overs). Clearly there is room to move between a future 1st and a future 3rd.

1. #13 and a late 1st is not way overs, when he still has 3 years of a contract
2. They didn't even try to find middle ground, that was their best offer. ****ing amateurs, will end up also rans

Their offer is the same they paid for Tambling. Richard. *******. Tambling.

We wanted Burgoyne like compensation...a bit less even.

Heath Shaw went for the equivalent of pick 10.

13 and something in the 16-17 range for Gibbs is entirely reasonable.
Collingwood declared their hand with Shaw and he had on-field and off-field issues...

One thing for sure, this is a divisive issue.

Seems some of us are happy with the outcome or at least nonplussed, while others are practically slitting their wrists.

Rinse and repeat next year, Gibbs will play ok, Adelaide will come 5-8th & Gibbs trade debate will be back on the agenda.

STICK THIS UP YA ADELAIDE

This is pretty much from Triggs mouth, they kept hounding Bryce when Carlton said no. Why did Adelaide keep trying to court our players if you want to get all moral well maybe Adelaide shouldn't court players on contracts.

Plus why would we get rid of one of our best players who is on a lot less money these coming years. CFC would have budgeted for the less money to grab a high profile player in the coming years.

maintain the faith. unfortunately due to our shocking recruiting (pre sos) efforts we have really needed to get kids in. its also unfortunate that currently only kids who haven't been getting games will want to come to us. as we improve and we will then players will want to come and we can start targeting players like the crouch brothers

Is anyone gonna boo Gibbs in round 1?
No, he's wearing Navy Blue. Should he disrespect it after this in any way or not put in total effort (could be challenging, he's been accused of that even without all this go home stuff, being he can look laconic) than you can understand people jeering him maybe.
