Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

What the hell do you want Matt Crouch for? Watching Carlton and the Crows doing this trade is like watching 2 cars playing chicken at 60km/hr its not going to happen fast but its still going to be a wreck at the end.
Train wreck? The biggest train wreck right now is your club, you can't get rid of your over paid plodders and nobody else wants to go there. Lol.

It wouldve been 8. Carlton traded 7 for whiley n jacksch so compensation comes after that. Picks got pushed back one cos of frawley compo.

Well if worried about crows finishing too high trading lyons & banking the pick of definitive value would be the option.
Maybe crows future 2nd for carltons future 3rd could be the sweetener depending on what number th lyons pick comes in at

I'm saying if Gibbs wasn't contracted now and left as a free agent the compo would be pick 6.

Please think about it Carlton and their supporters why in the hell would we give up pick 13 a possible future 10 plus season star and then give up one of our top youngsters as well for a 28 yr old player where no matter how you rate him even the most one eyed supporter in reality must see is stupid.
And I would be horrified if we did so and I am a fan of Bryce and also like to see players re unite with families .
We would be going backwards .
Lose
Lyons --- to get 2nd round pick so we have at least 1 in top 2 rounds.
Thommo -- on limited time now
Our 1 st round pick --
Cameron , Lever or McGovern or whoever they think fair ?

Gain
Gibbs
Now look at that , boy are we getting a deal .
Lets get Rockliff or another quality young mid and tell Carlton to progress on the path they have been on last few years.

Two parts of this sentence are incorrect.

1. Pick 13 could literally be anything. There are very few 'stars' in the competition, particularly picked in the mid teens and the probably of that happening is very low.

2. Lyons is not a youngster; he is 24 years old and has been on a list for 6 years! Not only that, he has only just had a breakout season. Pass on him.

Lyons for Rockliff and we will let Gibbs train with us while he takes a year off of footy. No charge.

Yep, Brisbane are going to trade their captain for a guy who is below average (objectively evidenced by the below average salary you've offered him). Hilarious.

And Carlton are going to let a contracted player train with another AFL club. Hilarity #2.

La Dispute is that what you are all about disputing without reading or thinking .
No 1 -- I did not say Lyons was a youngster
2 -- He is 24 which in many cases close to prime e.g. Danger only showed last 2 years any form level with skill value .
3 - And of course 4 years difference which is a long time in football life.
4 -- But where you totally did not read and think , I was not suggesting Lyons go to you as you are not clever enough to want but elsewhere to get 2 nd round pick.

5 --- Of course no certainties in draft even at around good picks 12 -- 15 but our last 2 picks in that area are Lever and Milera and both going to be stars. And Danger turned out alright too.

What a cringeworthy opener.

1. It's difficult to ascertain given that is the prevailing sentiment from your supporter at the moment. Chill.
2. Prime age, only just broken out and just 50 games under his belt. Pass.
3. 4 years is a long time in any context. What's your point? Lyons will likely regress to the mean and remain an average midfielder as most do after producing outlier seasons. For a team lacking in midfield depth, he's very expendable; not a good sign.
4. Of course we don't want him. He is not the kind of player who is going to propel us back up the ladder and your undervaluing him (180k) confirms our low rating of him.
5. Don't assume. Both project to be gun players but aren't there yet.

A lot of OTT Adelaide bias and over-rating of mediocre players.

I'm sceptical of this "just need player A and we will have a premiership team" thinking. When has that ever worked?

So it'd be nice to have Gibbs, but as he'll be 28 I'd be just as happy to have pick #13 ....we should get a pretty good player with a decade's service ahead. (We got Smith and Talia and Lever around that pick number). Not getting Gibbs and keeping #13 would not be a disaster for us. I'd be happy to retain our first round picks for this year and next.

What is the difference in asking price between the supporter groups at the moment?

Lever, Crouch etc are untouchables, so if Carlton fans still think this is the case, I think you're wrong.

Want I want: 2016 & 2017 first round picks for Gibbs + Carlton 2nd/3rd rounder (whatever year)

Want I think: 2016 1st + 2017 2nd for Gibbs (maybe a steak knife later pick)

What Crow fans want: Pick 13

What Crow fans think: Pick 13 + Lyons

Is that about right?

Pick 13 and our 3rd for your 4th.

If Carlton keeps asking for more than pick 13+2nd round pick Adelaide should just go for Rockliff who is a better player. Pick 13 alone will also get it done.

Wow your the sharpest of them all, so you reckon Rocky is a better player then Gibbsy.
We want a pick in the top 10 and 20 and we release a high quality and durable former pick 1 AFL marquee player.
Otherwise no talk.

Our low offer to Lyons is due to our list situation. He has larger offers from other clubs in front of him but wants to stay in Adelaide. Our situation doesn't define his value on the open market. He's a more than handy player, but certainly no Rockliff. But it was posted on our board from a Carlton poster that your club had turned down Rocky for a 2nd rounder. Which effectively values him not disimilarly to Lyons. Could be bullshit though, been plenty around.

Ehhh? Matthew Kreuzer was a former pick 1 too wasn't he? The title of "former pick 1" after this many years is literally worthless.

Bryce Gibbs is a top 50 midfielder in the comp, and the 3rd or 4th best midfield in most teams. He's worth pick 13+a 2nd rounder MAX. Asking for more is just stupid.

Gibbs is no marquee player lol hahahaha ... he maybe one of your best ... but he barely squeezes into the afl top 100. And believe us ... we know a good player when one walks away ... plenty good players have left the crows in recent times.

Not saying you should agree, but it's numbers like these that let you know why Adelaide supporters are fans of Lyons.

Tough situation playing out like it should.

Just not worth it for both sides as illustrated by both sets of fans. No side being unrealistic here.

Adelaide should have thought this through along with Gibbs before it started. Adelaide FC in particularly hold responsibility...stay the **** away because it is obvious its a hard deal. Maybe Adelaide will win this trade but one thing is for certain, Carlton will pay back the favour at some point for a Victorian player.

The trick is to act even handedly for win win. There is no win win for Carlton really based on what position Adelaide are in. Adelaide FC have gone down a path of stupidity.

So carlton would of accepted a value trade if Adelaide hadnt said gibbs wanted to come home? If they could act like it was on their terms trading out for the future to keep face?
