Never booed in my life. Its *n puerile bullshit.
Me either but the double standards towards Collingwood are ridiculous
West Coast fans will boo a pesky mosquito at half a chance. They are the kings of booing yet it is only an issue when it is Collingwood
We live rent free in Sydney’s head

I get the connection is going to be made for better or worse with Goodes/Buddy which leaves me sick in the stomach to even think we’re remotely revisiting. But the moral grandstanding from Sydney about booeing in the statement yesterday made me laugh. Openly booed an injured Ginnivan on the bench last year and not a word. Openly encouraged by all and sundry in the media if anything. Be an interesting watch on Freo this weekend. If one person in the crowd boos Bud I wonder what this will blow up into. I hope not

A long time ago I was a fool that booed Chris Tarrant and even further back Wayne Carey. Throughout the Adam Goodes saga I never acknowledged the racial element to it because I was naive to think that what I’d been told of him as a person from a former teammate meant it was justified. That’s on me to do better and part of that is helping to educate others.

I’ll never boo again, will educate my children on it and I appreciate that booing in general shouldn’t be outlawed, but from my perspective the booing of Buddy wasn’t a binary situation it was purely wrong and I hope it’s something we never see again from our supporter base.

For those that partake in the booing of Greene and Grundy over the next month you’ll get no judgement from me, but please never boo an indigenous player for no apparent reason again!

It’s an absolute certainty that a decent percentage of those defending the booing were in fact booing themselves, but don’t have the integrity to own it. They’d prefer to hide behind their keyboard rather than learning from their mistakes.
Calm down! It's a clearly non-issue, so why attribute actions to those who have that opinion?

I know virtue signallers don't like the term virtue signallers, but whatever the term used, the holier than thou attitude used to denigrate those who hold a different opinion is a disgrace!

We're getting record crowds this year mate and playing the most exciting footy in the league.

The media mostly love us. Opposition fans even admire us.

We are the biggest ticket in town.

Stop the negative hyperbole

Mate we aren't the first or only team to boo this year or past.

Yet here we are leading the charge on booing and like always a pies issue.

Just like the club leading the charge on systemic racism, we weren't the only club who had these issues (as Hawks can attest) but we are the face of it.

Drugs issue even when the bombers got done for doping , we get dragged into it for alleged doping in reference to 2010 and club wide coke use.
Bubbled along under the surface until the 2016? Robbo dobbo and then pies took up the face of drug use.
Nvm Hawks had 12 players on 3 strikes from tge 3 peat team, including the one in the headline by the time they were 26yo.

Eddie also had us the face of crowd behaviour for drunks and abuse when he banned a heap of overtly passionate types from the social club. Not that it's bad thing perse to clean it up for families but again we became the face of it (crowd behaviour).

Cannot believe there is a prominent account on Twitter calling for a fresh board spill after the release of that statement. Just staggering.

I'm nervous that account is going to start pushing the 'fans are bigger than the club' European and A-League soccer mindset. Hopefully common sense prevails and people understand why Moore and McRae didn't enjoy the optics of the booing.

I think for whatever minute gains we think we get out of booeing someone randomly, this negativity isn’t worth it. Surely everyone can agree on that.

Nah that’s not it. Put yourself in the shoes of Jacinta Franklin if her kids turn to her and ask why their dad was booed? What about Michael O’Laughlin who had to have that conversation with his son? Sydney jumped on it for a reason and to downplay it by calling it a “non-issue” plays into the hands of the bigots.

Call people whatever you like I couldn’t give a toss about labels, but after being on the wrong side of history on the Goodes one I’m taking a stand on this one.

What’s with this talk of booing Toby Greene this week?

Have I missed something? Did he do or say something particularly offensive to us?

If not, why on Earth would anyone go into the game with a premeditated plan to boo Toby, or anyone else? If he commits a disgraceful act during the game then boo if you feel the need but until then, surely not?

Oh, and anyone thinking that booing white guy Toby Greene will prove to our critics that the booing of Franklin was not racist is kidding themselves. It will just prove that we have a disproportionate number of morons as supporters.

So we have an apathetic crowd who can only cheer (but not too vigorously or passionately because that's also frowned on).

Just light clapping while we have a non alcoholic red wine and some cheese platters.
Then we can all hold hands and cheer opposition players and goals but only the indigenous ones and the champions.

What a wankfest this all is.

Bucks certainly didn't start the debate - I can clearly remember organized booing for Rhyce Jones and the controversy over that.

The take I have on booing is dependent on circumstances IMHO but it has become "an institution" and used without thought as a general dissatisfaction statement.

I'd reserve it for the true villans like O'Dea and the slimeball who ordered his actions.

You’ve answered your own question here. He’s the most obvious pantomime villain entering our next match and I’m sure he’ll be booed as some sort of up yours to the AFL community.

I think the AFL should just be done with it rename the sport AFL tag (can't have players physically touch each other DOC laws) and play to cardboard cut outs in stands with fake cheers and clapping recorded from tennis.

Memo to Booers:

Yes it's been part of the game for a long time - often almost expected - eg player swaps clubs - booed on 1st game with opposition - laugh and move on

Did you hear Craig McRae? - "we don't boo in our family".

Because it's Cwood the media will be all over it - their various idiot commentators in to it up to their necks. Looks [optics :(] mean everything in this case.

Maybe just be pragmatic for a while - does the club (admin / footy) need this distraction? - NO

It's sure to have have been discussed within the club - waste of our time - especially this year when the team we love is flying (pun intended)

The club recently made amends to Nicky Winmar - great effort - let's not take the polish off that

Booing is not a core component of enjoying seeing our boys play well and win

Let Fly and the boys keep doing what they're doing so well without this unnecessary noise about what the booing meant / didn't mean / is a traditional part of the game / I have a right to boo etc etc

Apart from Toby having got away with blue murder on numerous occasions you mean?

That in itself is offensive for every other club in the league.

Jacinta can do the same thing that egotistical types like Carey, Dermie and Buckley's missuses used to do when they got booed for being the same fierce competitors as Buddy, who all had a long and rich history against every team and state to the kids that it's because of the long history of fierce competition that they're booing and that it ain't got nothing to do with race!

Sucks for you that you're taking a stand at precisely the wrong time, but whatever makes you feel morally superior I suppose! Of course, if you're making snide remarks that people lack "integrity" or are "bigots" if they don't agree with you, then just how morally superior are you? You're basically booing people who disagree with you!!

If you can't understand the concept that it is about what the booing might make other people feel, then you really can't be helped.

A lot of reasons have been given for booing. I accept it wont stop.

I just want the players to 100% feel good about playing for collingwood. I dont think hearing booing like last weekend helps that to happen. Now I understand that people who boo dont really care what the players think. They just want to boo.

You tell them exactly why they are booed! because Dad is so good at his job they want to put him off to help their team.

Attributing RACE to it where there is none, is a shit move and ridiculous.

How are you so confident there was "none"?

And as noted previously, it doesn't matter if there was not one boo made with "racial intent". It is about how the boos might make people feel. Maybe think on it.
