Just had a look at the draw, if we continue to play like we did last night I can only see 1 more win from here to the end of the season and that is hard fought 2 point win against the Suns. I think injuries are now going to take a toll and some of the young kids like Florent, Haywood etc are starting to look tired. Prove me wrong Sydney but we could potentially see a repeat of what happened at the start of last year with injuries and poor form with some of our senior guys at the back end of this season.

Both should have been 10 goal losses. That’s how far off we are.
But they weren't & we had our chances, despite losing Heeney early last week & Jack early this week meaning we were critical midfield rotations down. We lost. That's all. Even p'ship lose 5 or 6 games a year. Prior to the season beginning I personally didn't rate us as a p'ship threat. Nothing has changed.

So be it!

They weren't through nothing the Swans did. The Swans did not make Geelong kick really badly in front of goal and if we are relying on opposition teams to kick really badly for us to stay in the contest then that is very much a strategy that is not going to work much.

“16 of the last 17 premiers averaged more than 100 points for" according to Champion Data. We average 85. We cannot score goals. This was evident again last night. Without Buddy we have barely a functioning forward line, and our strategy seems to be to try and create a dour, low-scoring, ugly game and win by scoring 50 points as opposed to out opponents 35. It's all fun and games to score 100 points against sides like StKilda and Freo, but we need to consistently post high scores if we are going to compete with Richmond in September. For some reason we fluctuate so significantly, 90 points one week and then 60 the next, Buddy must shake his head when he looks at the scoreboard some weeks, and sees we've only kicked 7 goals for the match. 59 points last night....seriously?

Exiting the defensive 50 last night was just long kicks to space. Geelong spare would get the loose ball and return it back into our defensive 50.

This was repeated for large parts of the game. Swans defence is good but you can’t withhold forever.

The game plan won’t allow us

I very you are not seeing the continuation of the fault plan

If we dont have the list capable to potentially win a flag then whys everyone upset with the last two weeks?

i think we have the ability to win the flag with the personnel we have, but I also agree we have issues with how we play,

We have kicked 100 or more points 4 times this season, which really is no where near enough considering we have played 15 games.

It was 9 goals and Geelong only kicked 8. As a game it was a poor standard. May be one of the problems of night football are that the conditions are poorer.

Who was the 17th team that f . . k e d up those stats from being a perfect 17 of 17?

The thing that annoys me is that our midfield has been such an issue for years, and yet the club clearly does not agree as last years recruiting showed that since we went for two halfbacks and a key forward. If Longmire thought the midfield was an issue he would have instructed the recruiters to go for midfielders.

You make it sound like it was close. In reality it was about 30 scoring shots to 12.

Most games with those kinds of figures the Swans would have been beaten by 60+ points.

ok but they werent,

when we should of won by more because of our own poor kicking we dont go on about it

Last week we were more competitive imo, we started well, that felt like a pretty good contest, in the context of the season it was a forgivable blip imo

But the small loss was not our doing. We did not control Geelongs awful kicking for goal. It was pure luck that Geelong kicked that badly against us.

8 goals 20, could have been a lot more if they kicked straight. We didn't generate many scoring shots last night.

But we only lost by 12 points mate.
If you want to play the hypothetical game then let's take away their ridiculous 50s & Danger's free kick for a goal in that last, yes that vital first goal required in such a close game.
What if Jack didn't get hurt & stayed on without any possessions but at least provided us with the extra rotation that Geelong had?
Same with Hanners & his calf. He's been struggling enough so what if he didn't do his calf & gave us a slightly better output.

You know?

12 points. Not 65 points. We saved our percentage.
Take some good luck with our bad luck mate & hope we get some key players back & whip Norths ar.es.

Whats that got to do with last week?

I agree the scoreboard flattered us last week, but I also maintain that poor goal kicking is no different to poor field kicking and turnovers in a game

when you beat a side or its close but they have a mountain of turnovers we dont go on about it.

The score is what it is and created the pressure under which Geelong could not convert

We were shit though so who cares, it was an awful performance, but the sky is not falling we have still set up in a position to do something IF we are good enough to make the adjustments
