Good thread mate. Well done
I can't believe he's about to pass Q Lynch. Buddy has 67 games (182 goals) to Lynch's 117 and 186 goals.
Here's some more silly stats.
At this rate, Buddy will have 319 goals by 117 games. And that’s assuming he will only travel at his career avg of 2.74 goals per game between now and then. If he continued his current 08 avg of 5.36, he would have 450 goals at the 117 game mark.
That would make him in 57th spot for the most goals ever at the age of 23. Only 14 goals behind Dermie.
Buddy should join the 200 club by round 16.
Now that would be an amazing effort considering Hudson had about 498 goals after 117 games.
The only difference is that Huddo has done it. Buddy has yet to do it.
Buddy's ave goals per season;
2005 - 1.1 per game
2006 - 2.2 per game
2007 - 3.3 per game
2008 - 5.3 per game.
While their is no doubt that the current rules favor the forward and we should all recognise that Buddy still has plenty of room for improvement, it's a wonderful start.
But looking at that stat for Suma earlier, it pays to keep a lid on things and deal with what we know and what is done - not what might or should happen.
Hey fellow Hawks, as someone who has spent most working days reading these boards but rarely posting, you may not know me (my first thread);
Anyway, as someone who enjoys the little things about our game and most importantly, the feats of Hawthorn players, I was toying with a (somewhat trivial) idea. I thought I would post, week-by-week, Buudy's place on the Alltime VFL/AFL Goalkicking list, so we can see him overtake our favourite/hated/current players and see the unfolding of what place in history he takes.
For example, this week:
Buddy moved to # 408 on the All-Time List with 175 goals
This week he overtook:
409 174 Alves, S.266 1965 Melbourne/Nth Melb
410 174 Bruns, N.223 1978 Geelong
411 174 Richardson, M.156 1983 Collingwood/Essendon/Bris Bears
412 174 Bayes, M.246 1985 Sydney
413 174 Gleeson, A. 176 1986 Carlton
414 174 Hall, T. 114 1988 Hawthorn/Adelaide
415 174 Lappin, N.* 279 1994 Bris Lions/Bris Bears
416 173 Mensch, D. 158 1992 Geelong
417 172 Bairstow, M. 146 1987 Geelong
418 172 Campbell, W. 297 1991 Richmond
419 172 Johnson, C. 264 1994 Bris Lions/Fitzroy
420 171 Cooper, R. 159 1932 Carlton/Nth Melb
421 171 Ross, J. 139 1946 St Kilda
422 171 Branton, R. 170 1953 Richmond
423 171 McGowan, B. 118 1955 Sth Melb
424 171 Elshaug, T. 137 1979 Melbourne/Essendon/Collingwood
425 171 Buhagiar, T. 108 1981 Essendon/Footscray
426 171 Heatley, J. 63 1995 West Coast/St Kilda
427 170 Harvey, M. 206 1984 Essendon
428 170 Broderick, P. 262 1988 Fitzroy/Richmond
429 170 Edwards, T.* 276 1995 Adelaide
430 170 Mooney, C.* 153 1999 Geelong/Kangaroos
Is this a something you guys are interested in? I can do it anyway you like, say 3 players above and below? only when he ovetakes current players? Hawks? Big names? etc.
If this is boring, that's fine too!
No shit - he has more goals than C. Mooney. LOL.
Well considering he played a lot of his career in defence........
can mods make this thread a sticky ?
im bumping it back up
i think it is a great idea,
and something that shouldnt go unnoticed
great to keep a track of buddys progress

So Buddy's not quite keeping pace with such luminaries as Minton-Connell and Darren Bennett. But good on him, he's great to watch and great for the game.

RTB - awesome stats, I seem to remember you have an edge over most of us in that regard.
The Mark Jackson one really suprises me.
Cheers. Yeah, few realise how well Jacko's record reads on paper. Everyone remembers the antics and constant club changes though.
Interesting too that the only players on that list younger than Franklin were Lee, Lloyd, Lockett, Longmire and Des Fothergill (who was barely 20, and three games shy of winning the Brownlow along with his third Copeland Trophy). Gordon Coventry was nearly 24 and had 'only' 162 goals at the same stage; plenty of time for Buddy yet.
Sorry guys (Hodgepodge)...I thought it would be fairer to wait until the end of each round but people seem to want it straight away so i'll try to do it as soon as the stats are updated.
After a fine 5 goal effort against WC (and cruising past Q.Lynch)
Buddy has jumped 18 places to #354
Leaving these guys in his wake:
