Autopsy Bulldogs defeat Hawks

The run is over.

Hats off to the Dogs who were far better on the night.

Well done to our warriors for the last 3 years that they've given us and all that came with it.

What a club.

The greatest club since the middle of last century. We did not make a mistake to re contract some of our older players either by the way!!

This is/was an excellent move , why ? Because Hawthorn has its successful history because we are continually in a type of forward and building motion.

Clarkson set out ten years ago with a set plan, went through some hard times and then look what happened. Four Premierships. And a runner up.

Now we have blooded a new group , and we have our players preparing for next year with a longer break, we faced in this day and age an almost impossible task, and we were just winning games, rather than the wishful thinking of "we are just playing mind games with the fans" that was rubbish, we have run out of puff this year, some skill mistakes you only need 4 or 5 over a game and if your opponent is up with you , bang. That's what happened last night, and the Dogs were right up to it.

People writing Dogs off for next week may well think again, this team is ripe and ready , and they have something premiers need like we did in 2008, its a need for the victory , its a feeling like round 17, 2008 against Geelong, the week I knew we would beat them next time.

Footscray have got the desperation look about them.

The Giants will be hard but they are only needed for the establishment of a TV produced footy team, no history.

So I hope they are shocked into reality next week.

We wouldn't have shocked them this year , I'm afraid.

The forward building motion I talked about above , watch it pay off over next season and into the future. Clarko has his old warriors and an new breed coming through . Big Jack Fitzpatrick , 2 games and excellent he will get better and better and does that little bit extra 1 percenters, Sicily , O'Brien, Howe , Burton, we have a lot of blokes that have the elite standard needed to keep on being strong.

And we have our super players we know who they all are.

Only clubs like us that know how to keep at a higher level and blend in new good young players will survive the next ten twenty years, our management make up, and our footy people , our whole operation, I trust in to keep us a threat for a long long time to come.

GO HAWKS!!!!

Now I can sit back and watch some good football ,the cheating umpires (ha ha ha ) and the other supporters having nervous breakdowns.

My nerves a cracked until Next winter.

Then why did Brand, Toby, Howe, Langford, Lovell and The big Irishman not play?
Because we got closer than we thought we would. Clarko really scaled back on playing young guys with about 7 rounds left in the season and must have thought it was worth having a real crack.

Beaten by a better and younger side. We have some issues with the list that need to be rectified.

I like the Dogs but I was disappointed in the booing of Hodge. Was it because he rightly claimed that he touched a ball he did? Or just general hostility and bitterness towards a legend of the game? Either way, disrespectful and makes me want GWS to win the flag.
GWS NEVER!!!

Word. That moment, I stopped wanting the Bulldogs to go on if we lost. **** them, peasant unsuccessful campaigners.

I hope GWS dominate for a decade and those gloating today realise they had it good.

Commiserations Hawks, but yeah, you have been totally spoilt for the past few years by achieving what 17 other clubs can only dream about. And you guys have stayed classy in defeat. The amount of well wishers dropping into our forum has been a great reflection on your humility. I'm sure you will reload, we have become accustomed to expecting it from the HFC, so good luck for the future. And never has the word "Silk" been better used to describe the feats of Burgoyne. Legend!!

Yep - they killed us. They were on last night. Really stepped up during these finals. hope they go all the way
Can't see the Dogs going all the way, reckon the Giants will halt their progress next week and go on to play the Cats in the final, and only losing to the cats because the game will be at the MCG.

Possible you missed the point I was making.

I wasn't talking about the past, I'm talking about the future and how Hawthorn can gain players via Free Agency due to your standing in the competition.
I understand, and understood the point of your post and appreciate its intent. But we have been r*ped by free agency thus far, gaining only frawley and losing franklin, suckling and and a few others. So free agency doesn't seem to be helping the club thus far.

Wasn't Danger a FA? So what anyway. And who's fault is it if the Club is the destination club that players want to go to. Players wanted this rule whether welcome it or not.

Fair enough maybe but I've been testing Grizz and co for weeks that it was nuts ...

If nothing else you have to admire his loyalty.

Played 5-7 players who were injured out of loyalty.

Anyone blaming the umpires for that loss is honestly kidding themselves by the way. They were the better team tonight, by far.
THAT'S TRUE, BUT THERE WERE AS PER USUAL SOME STRANGE ONES?

BUT THE MESSY NEW AFL RULE SET UP, HAS CAUSED THAT, NOT THE UMPIRES!

DISAPPOINTINGLY THE AUTOCRATIC AFL WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT,UNTIL SOME GAMBLER GETS HIS HANDS INTO SOME OFFICIALS POCKET!
(sorry cap button)

regarding the old players, I reckon we will see something really innovative next year. I'm talking about the old guys playing between 7 and 15 games rather than aiming for 22 plus. Full list rotation stuff rather than just resting occasionally when guys have niggles.

It's gonna be great. The 30 year olds will become our depth players, and the kids will be given all the responsibility.

Agree right up until you have Cats winning...I think GWS is a huge chance.

Firstly the disclaimer, I was obviously barracking for the Doggies last night and I'm not disappointed to see Hawthorn lose and have their season ended (I doubt Geelong is likely to get much support from Hawk fans next week).

While there is no love lost between us fans, which is what builds and builds the rivalry (with no small help from two sides that continually lift and challenge each other and constantly produce terrific games), there are plenty of Cats fans who have a very healthy respect for Hawthorn. Both clubs have their share of dropkick supporters in their ranks so while there will be the usual trolls looking to get a rise out of this board there are also posters who can acknowledge what a great period Hawthorn has had.

To make a Grand Final is difficult, to win one is harder again.

To win 3 in a row is something that beggars belief, yet your club did it. And that is something that can never be taken away. Hawthorn have cashed in wonderfully well during their period of dominance.

No-one likes seeing their team lose, especially in a final, but everything that has a beginning has to eventually come to an end. However, the end doesn't have to last very long in the current footy climate before there is a new beginning and another chapter written.

Free Agency benefits sides like Hawthorn. The Hawks are clearly a destination club and we have already seen O'Meara declare for you guys and others will no doubt follow. The rejuvenation and hunger that comes from "fresh blood" coupled with the culture and professionalism of the existing players and coaches will ensure any ending at Hawthorn isn't going to last very long.

I'm glad to see you gone, I won't bullshit anyone on that front, but a lot of that is due to the success you've had and the rivalry Geelong has with Hawthorn. You guys should be incredibly proud of what Hawthorn has achieved, so many other supporters would cut off limbs just to win 1 premiership (think of the Dogs and the Saints).

As an aside, it was great news about Roughead. He is much loved by many footy fans and I'm sure everyone smiled with the details of his improvement.

RESPECT.
Love the name Pivo. Cheers!

I don't hope GWS dominate for a decade "TL", but I certainly reckon they will stitch the Dogs up next week over at Spotless, and yes, there was no need to boo Hodgey like they did, Hawk supporters didn't boo them when they claimed and won a touched ball decision that would have been a goal to the Hawks.

I also hope GWS don't dominate...but I'm failing to see how they get beaten

I hope I'm not out of line popping in here, but I just wanted to thank the many, many gracious Hawks supporters who have wandered over to our board to acknowledge our win last night. Much respect has been earned - can't imagine any other teams' supporters doing that in such numbers and with sincerity.

Secondly, I'm 57 years old and have seen a lot of footy. I have no doubt that the Hawthorn team of the past 5 years is the greatest team to have played in my lifetime. The loss last night might be bitter, but nobody can take away your teams, your clubs and your Coaches greatness.

Yes bit sad with the booing (for every single touch, kick or movement). :(
Not only to Hodgey but also cyril, well majority of our players actually. And it wasn't only last night.

Is it wrong to wants the crows to win the flag instead of doggies?
