Clarko's comments are interesting, 104 tackles for 3 free kicks. Maybe a player is better off not committing to a tackle put just pressuring the player. It happens every game our players lay a tackle, the opposition player will get the ball free (handball, throw or dropping it) and we'll be out numbered at the next contest.

I thought he was very diplomatic....

I think many here forget that we have had season after season longer than other clubs, and with some of our ageing heroes, this must have taken a toll on their bodies. Maybe this was only about 5%, but we play such a precise game that 5% is enough to allow good sides enough opportunities to beat us. Not making excuses here, but think it a reasonable explanation.

Hope the dogs can go all the way from here, and if they win next week, I believe they can.

Lewis 66% time on ground, don't even remember seeing him out there in the fourth, injured by the end for sure, whether he carried a niggle in that turned into something more or if he just hurt himself during the game I don't know, doesn't help when the boys were having one last crack.

Wonder how many of the boys played their last game for Hawks on Friday night....

Proud they didnt give up, proud Clarko went over to Bevo after the game. Glad Clarko commented on how the rules have changed, the rule book hasn't just how htb, handballs in close and incorrect disposal are being called.

It wasn't new to last night but it was stark how different the game is called

The number of non doggies supporters there on Friday screaming their hatred of the Hawks was mind boggling, the number of them celebrating on the train home like their team had won even more so.

I want to watch the third quarter again because at the ground the 8-2 free kick count felt really unfair, there were some plain wrong decisions and some I just couldn't work out. Now that the dust has settled I need to go back and watch it calmly to see if it was just how dominant the dogs were.

Been happy with the response of most supporters in here it's proof for mine of how much we've all appreciated this great clubs efforts over the last few years.

Thanks to the oppo supporters who have been good in here as well.

Yep he was making a point about his opinion of the umpiring which quite simply was a refusal by the umpires to reward the tackler, however still make sure the tackle was a legal one. I said it earlier it was a major influence on the result and had other ramifications in terms of the way the game was played ie more stoppages which the dogs often won.

Have to say absolute first grade class here acknowledging the dogs effort and wishing us all the best for the finals. Not hard to see where it comes from, that act by Clarko going into our rooms to congratulate Bevo was top shelf and shows why you have the best culture and are the best organisation in the comp that we all aspire to be like.

All the best for a quick spike back to the top next year, here's hoping us long suffering doggies can finally snag one.

Its pretty simple, your team plays in th right spirit, just do rhe talking onfield, and how can we begrudge the donation of 'lakey' which I understand benefitted you too

The umpiring which shat me was Dickson initiating contact with Birchall (two hands into the chest) and making no real effort to mark, then being rewarded with a shot at goal right in front...

...whilst at the other end our little champ who habitually sits on blokes heads is pinged three times for interference in marking contests.

note: The only one of these I've rewatched is the Dickson free, and it wasn't as bad as I first thought, but still wrong nonetheless. I don't even remember seeing replays during the game of the Cyril infringements.

2nd note: oh yeah, also Nicholls pinging Duryea 50m for not giving the ball straight back after he bounce-passed it straight into the waiting Bulldog hands. Ridiculous umpiring.

Could just tell with
A - our lack of scoring and leaking of goals
B- the loss of Rough to add to losing Lake and Hale.
C - injuries
D - box hill not in the running

It all combined to be plainly obvious we were not as dominent and other teams had more pace.
Even Clarko admitted it.
He said we had not played well all year.
He knew we were behind the 8 ball and that years of being at the top and long seasons had taken its toll and players deserve the break.
Only quoting what Clarko said.
You gunna tell him to f#$k off ?
Clown.
You're the one saying you knew the season was going nowhere after 3 Rounds.

Dig up, stupid.

It's hard to comment on this matter and not sound like a whinge, but the umps have been very kind to the Bulldogs this year, and we're very generous again on Friday. How often do you see Burgoyne remenstrating out of frustration? The little patch at the end of the second 1/4 was horrendous. Hold on for those last 10mins, and the game would have been very different.

Yep I would agree with this...the Burgoyne one was an absolute howler, and I'm yet to be convinced of the Gunston disallowed goal also...looked to me like the ball clearly missed the hand...didn't seem to be any arguments from the dogs players claiming it was touched and yet they overturn it anyway after it was called a goal with very very sketchy video evidence.

One of them did, and it was so ever slightly touched by the outside of the Footscray guy's pinky. If that was touched, there would basically never be a contested mark

At least it was 1-1 on the night so hasn't affected the result imo but the afl have to get better at this..the video replays just provide more doubt...there really inconclusive unless there is a high def feed...the ones I saw on Friday were a blur..and as you say if we start getting that technical on everything we wouldn't have a game.

As much as the #freekickhawthorn mouth breathers would have you believe otherwise, Dogs are sitting 2nd on the frees for ladder behind North. Hawks are ranked 7th.
