Autopsy Bulldogs defeat Hawks

This is the story youre trying to sell, but that doesnt make it so - we are just really, really good at not getting wrapped up in the tackle. If you remember back to the days of mcartney thats pretty much all we ever did - play man on man, kick long down to line to the next stoppage and practice 'cracking in' at training.

We do tend to throw it a bit, but nowhere near as much as AC would like to weave into his narrative.

You come across as someone who doesn't truly believe what they are saying, so have come here to beat their chest about it to convince themselves.

I'll suggest to Clarko that he teaches the players how to 'crack in' at training for next season, could be handy.

Good luck next week.

Good: I thought our pressure was excellent for most of the first half.
Sicily had some great tackles and pressure acts.
For all the talk of old players - Hodge, Burgoyne were still class

Bad: I still don't think we can play Smith, Hartung and Hill in the same team (although that won't be a problem next year)
Completely outplayed by the Dogs for the end of the second quarter and most of the second half.
Shoey had a stinker but came of a limited preparation.
Umpiring wasn't a factor but I felt the Dogs dropped the ball and threw it a few times without being penalised. That McLean high free against Burgoyne was also rubbish.
Breust's miss in the second quarter.

Ugly: Contested possessions and forward line. Been a problem all year. Hopefully O'meara and Vickery will help.
Agree 100% with everything said, I also thought that dangerous tackle free against us was a shocker and cost us at a crucial time in the 3rd quarter I think it was.

Sorry, but I can't take anything you say seriously anymore.

Clubs are still ironing out their gameplan and changing it at Round 10, and here you are doing the "I'm just a realist, I knew we wouldn't amount to anything by Round 3".

**** off.

Could just tell with
A - our lack of scoring and leaking of goals
B- the loss of Rough to add to losing Lake and Hale.
C - injuries
D - box hill not in the running

It all combined to be plainly obvious we were not as dominent and other teams had more pace.
Even Clarko admitted it.
He said we had not played well all year.
He knew we were behind the 8 ball and that years of being at the top and long seasons had taken its toll and players deserve the break.
Only quoting what Clarko said.
You gunna tell him to f#$k off ?
Clown.

Sometimes you need to step them through it with a loud 'back-to-back-to-back!'
It's more about who he is, his history, the whole Hodge legend and persona. Some of you Hawks supporters seem to understand that, others not. I can't explain it any more clearly. It's not about what Hodge did as much as it's about who Hodge is.

Kayser Soze, perhaps?

I am really disappointed about the result today. Yesterday, I was pretty philosophical, today I'm realising that we don't have next week for the first time in ages.

The reality is, we had them on the ropes at one point, and could have killed their run early in the 3rd. Despite being comprehensively outplayed for an extended period of time, we gave them the sniff required. Same issue all year, teams have been throwing caution to the wind, and our ability to fully capitalise on the resultant errors has vanished. Agrh, the waves of disappointment.

You should get "I was right" or "I knew this would happen" tattoed across your forehead.

You are the Oracle.
Ahh! Ignored... Feels so nice.

Have to say absolute first grade class here acknowledging the dogs effort and wishing us all the best for the finals. Not hard to see where it comes from, that act by Clarko going into our rooms to congratulate Bevo was top shelf and shows why you have the best culture and are the best organisation in the comp that we all aspire to be like.

All the best for a quick spike back to the top next year, here's hoping us long suffering doggies can finally snag one.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I'm pretty happy that the majority of our fans there last night hung around til the end. The game was pretty much done with early in the final qt, and as the dogs started piling on goals, it looked liked it may have gotten ugly, but to everyone's credit it seemed that most made a concerted effort to stay till then end. And the players repayed us with fighting it out till the end. Stopped in at maccas on the way home and a few neutrals who were at the game brought it up in conversation, and all said it was great to see.

No. I face the ultimate inner conflict - membership scarf or membership cap?

I faced the same dilemma myself - I've gone with the cap. I'm now second guessing that decision. Will it have my membership years written somewhere on it or is it just a boring hat. Should I have stuck with a scarf of which I now have a bagful just so I can continue the count.

It's also got a lot to do with your side. It's not made up of self-entitled flogs or egoist, nor do you have a knob of a coach.

Wow that's a bit rude don't you think? He was just expressing an opinion. I developed the same view of hawks (maybe not that early) that they weren't as good- the % alone tells you that 118% as alluded to by Clarkson himself post match. The best in the league was 151%- the swans fortuitously

In fact I was on record before the finals series saying hawks would exit loss loss straight sets and then not make the 8 in 2017. Speed and age of it's prior champions IMO. The fall happens so quickly when it does. Your body just can't do what it once did. One minute you're soaking up the adulation next minute you're watching finals on the TV as a habit.

You guys were good at your best though- the measuring stick against which all teams compared. Rightly proud of recent achievements including trouncing us in 2014. As the saying goes:

"To everything turn turn turn"

Soooooooo, you were pretty sure Isaac Smith would have a kick at the siren to put us past the cats and have a week off - but miss.....right?
Prescient.

It has to be said...how many think we lose the prelim to Shitney at the G off the weeks rest no Mcveigh no Rohan and 6 day break...ok so it doesn't matter!

Considering that Lewis is injured, stratts can't lift his arm, gunners is running on one leg - I would say the swans would of been a pretty big chance themselves

Clarko's comments are interesting, 104 tackles for 3 free kicks. Maybe a player is better off not committing to a tackle put just pressuring the player. It happens every game our players lay a tackle, the opposition player will get the ball free (handball, throw or dropping it) and we'll be out numbered at the next contest.

Yes..that is exactly what he's saying..the tackler is not rewarded...the opp player drops the ball in the tackle...they get it loose..bulldogs due to high numbers around the ball..swoop....play on. They play a swarm type football around the contest.

Further to this Clarkson also said something interesting...if this is the case with the interpretation of HTB changing and doggies swarming fast...get it out of the contest at any cost...Hawks and other opps are going to have to devise a game plan to thwart this...we've gone from the web to the swarm.
