Yep very well done by port to get two first rounders for Burgoyne.

Quite obvious: Port big winners, Bombers big losers out of that deal. Hawthorn did okay.

Yet to be seen, the redistribution of the picks has not been announced.

If we get pick 24, then I think its a win for Essendon, as our total trading output would be:

Out: Lovett, Nash
In: Williams, Pick 24

I'll take that.

However, if we DIDN'T get 24, then I am going to be absolutely filthy with the recruiting department for letting us get screwed.

Not happy losing pick 16.. effectively traded Lovett for Williams now.
It is reported there are 3 of Port Adelaide's picks (2nd rounders and above) that are to be distributed to Essendon and Hawthorn. Hopefully pick 24 is coming Essendon's way at least..

The four-way deal, involving Port Adelaide, Hawthorn, Essendon and one other club will see Burgoyne go to Hawthorn, Hawks forward Mark Williams move to Essendon and picks No.9 and 16 handed over to the Power.

It doesn't actually say who the fourth club is.

First round pick for Mark Williams? Geez, Essendon. I hope they're getting someone else out of this.

I truly hope that this isn't the case. Essendon got royally screwed if this is true. We need to get at least pick 28 and Mark Williams to make it close to fair. Therefore I propose:

I think hawks would be giving up too much by giving away Kennedy aswell.

Hawks did ok, and Port should be happy, but I think the Bombers paid a bit too much for Williams who hasnt played that well for a few years now.

Hawks are still in a premiership window and dont really need anymore top draft picks as they are still young enough. Port get a few first round picks (could be good players or duds). Bombers get an experienced forward.

What's wrong with Williams?

Pick 16 is nothing special.

I'd have Williams at Carlton in a heartbeat.

Essendon have a good forward and a goal kicker who will complement Gumbleton, Monfries, Neagle, Reimers and Davey.

And another indigenous player who will fit in at Essendon.

The Bombers can concentrate on drafting a good midfielder with pick ten.

Still rather wait until the official details are released. All Rhode has said so far (hearing it on radio myself) is:

- Port will received Picks #9 and #16
- Burgoyne to Hawthorn.
- Williams to Essendon.
- A 4th club is involved.

The following things are not confirmed:
- Port are chasing Nash as well... is this tied in and how.
- Will Port have to give up any other picks (including possibly #8)?
- Who is the other club and what are they getting/giving?
- Will Hawthorn/Essendon have to give up anything else.

People (and journos) are jumping the gun assuming Port are automatically keeping Pick #8.

What the ****? How does that make Sydney part of the trade?
Hawks and Sydney could just deal directly, pick 28 for McGlynn and Kennedy has no effect on the rest of the trade.

Richmond are somehow involved seeing they already delt with Port Adelaide in the Schultz/Farmer deal.. Richmond will throw in a pick for either Hawthorn/Essendon I guess..

If Essendon gain Williams for a mere drop of 8 draft positions for that pick as has been suggested, then they have done quite well out of this.

St Kilda have been included as the 4th team as Pick 16 which Essendon have given to Port originally came from the Saints for Lovett.
The confusion has come from the trades not happening at the same time

I would guess we gave up picks 38 and 39 for Kennedy. 28 is already done for Mumford. So maybe Essendon have been given one of our 3rd rounders as well.

From Hawks point of view, Williams and pick 9 was probably too much, let alone mcglynn or kennedy as well.

Maybe kennedy to sydney for a third round which is then upgraded from port or bombers for a second round?
