Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn? (part II)

Guys, I think this went about 55% in your favour.

In reality Hawks gave up 9 + Kennedy + McGlynn + Williams to get Burgoyne

You get three first round picks (If I read the deals right)

Would you have traded Burgoyne for the extra 2 first round picks at the beginning of the week?
kennedy and mcglynn weren't part of the burgoyne trade ?? you traded them to sydney you got burgoyne for 9 and williams

Glad that's over with! Good deal all round I think each club would be happy. 3 1st rounders is a good result and 3-4 years should be part of your core to go with Hartlett and Boak etc. Happy with the discussions I had with you guys I tried not to be a flog and didn't get any back. Win-Win that's all we wanted. :thumbsu:
Well said Rioli. All that was ever wanted was for a fair and equitable trade for Shaun Burgoyne for all parties involved.

Now that we have made the deal (and done reasonably well out of it), I am dreading seeing JB in a new guernsey.

Me too... Just won't seem right seeing a Burgoyne playing in another clubs colours :(

As long as he doesnt play 100 games for them. There is no way purebred PAFC offspring (Burgoyne + Phillips) should ever make it to the poos and wees...

The end result is OK for me. Based on the delistings, possibly only Giles and Lower, then the low picks are not needed and 8,9 and 16 are sufficient.

Coupled with last year's pick 4 and Trengove (touted as first round) then we would have had 5 first round picks in 2 years - the future depends on how well we draft now.

It it now when we tell Hawthorn that his knees are just about shot which is the reason why we only offered him 1 year?

Might as well spill the beans!

Yeah I'm not comfortable saying much more as I have heard the story from a really close source and it wouldn't be fair on them...

The fact the real story hasn't been reported has really hurt our club as it has let the other rumours and innuendo spin out of control and now be taken as fact rather than rumour.

I am as guilty as anyone in blaming the club for Shaun leaving - based purely on rumour when in fact the club was stuck in the middle and doing its best to move forward.

Yeah, I think we can read between the lines, bucky, and it isn't really isn't up to you to divulge what has been going on. Hopefully if this issue is now resolved the club can indeed move on.

Yep, I agree with you bruv. Gutwrenching to see Super Shaun move on. Nail this draft and the pain goes away though.

Bingo.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at Peter's wedding on Saturday.

Ah ok I've heard those stories. I guess my previous post might be irrelevant.

Ok can we as board collect all the Hawthorn fans comments putting shit on Shaun and how useless and worthless he is and put them in a thread and the first time early in the season he streams out of the centre and in a quarter or two puts 4 passes down Buddies throat, lace out on the MCG, remind them of their words.

Mind you with Buddy getting the ball, every possible combination of 4 out on the full to 4 goals straight is possible.

I know the stories have been out there for a while - its just this week I have been told that they are THE reason Shaun and his family want to move interstate.

Good luck to all involved now.

Lets hope we can use our picks well and rebuild our great club. I have a stsange feeling that the 'everyone hates us' thing could well galvanise this group of players. Onwards and upwards.

I'm guilty as well.

I was lucky to have an inside source WRT shaun's wedding and am not really surprised those events have effectively led to Shaun leaving the state. It's obvious to anyone reading this thread who can put 2 and 2 together that this involves Peter, but I don't want to go into specifics.

Maybe the wider public may one day be made aware than Shaun leaving has more to do with personal reasons than the current on and off field problems at the club.

I shudder to think how good shaun will be next year with a fresh start.
