Even the unclassy things he does classy. His little toepoke when every single other player were falling over for the ball was so well controlled and gave us the position to go for another goal.

He is a wizard excepting he isn't pulling rabbits out the hat but wins out of his arse.

He's our goose shitting golden eggs when we need him.

Only another 9 games to go to achieve honorary Hawthorn life membership (150 games for the club), and 17 to go to have played more games for Hawthorn than Port. :)

His nickname should be be changed universally from silk to 'clutch'. It doesn't sound as good, but he's equal parts anvil and silk, and the combination that produces shines brightest when the crucible moments in big games come around.

His is a brilliance forged in battle, not something he was just born with - plenty of players have silk, he is a level above that.

There's not been a more clutch player at Hawthorn since the 80s golden era, and even then he wouldn't be out of place with that lot.

He was caught holding the ball in the third quarter, and I had a fleeting doubt.
Then Clarko put him in at every centre bounce in the last, and the great man did what he was born to do.
The great man delivereth.

O ye of little faith.

This is a brown and gold silk clutch. Now known in fashion circles simply as a 'Burgoyne'.

Brings a new meaning to lifes old saying "learn to stand on your own two feet".
Rarely falls over but unlike other supposed superstars of the competition he has the skills to finish his hard work.

If you totally revere the Great Man, can you admire him even more?

Rule 353 in Clarko's playbook: "When we are totally in the sh*t, call on Shaun Burgoyne".

I hear on SEN this morning that he has played the most footy matches in the competition in the last 5 years.

Not bad on one leg.
Can't wait to give him the standing ovation in his 300th in a couple weeks.

If I had to pick a side to play the last 5 minutes of a close game from the whole AFL, Burgoyne would be the first one I'd pick. Those close finishes he just always seems to find a way to be around the ball and impact the result.

Absolute bloody legend.
Imagine what a team with clutch players like Burgoyne, Hodge, Rioli etc. could achieve? ;):p:eek::drunk::thumbsu:

Prob gotta add Ben Dixon & Sicily to that list if it comes down to kicks in the last minute!

If Burgoyne plays all 11 remaining games and then one final, he will overtake Ben Dixon in Hawthorn games played.
He will have passed Ray Jenke, Des Meagher, John Hendrie, Brad Sewell, Geoff Ablett, and Ben Dixon.

If he plays 21 games next season, he will have overtaken: Darrin Pritchard, Andrew Collins, Mark Graham, Alan Martello and Michael Moncrieff.
This puts him 20th on our all time games played list and he played 157 for Port Adelaide before he and his one good leg came over to the light.
This is a slightly better effort than one might have thought when he first showed up at Waverley with his day bag over his shoulder.
