Butler tackle on Blakey

Good tackle. If he gets suspended the tribunal will definitely see common sense.

Well we'll see how you react when he's wiped out for 3 weeks for "what should be HTB"

I did start this thread for genuine discussion but if you wanna throw "salty" and "cope" s**t around I'll party
. So salty. Was subbed out because of a sore toe.

Pathetic sooking.

153 tackles in the game, you say? And one of those tackles resulted in a player's head touching the ground? Well blow me down with a feather.

Reducing the number of tackles is the only solution from here.

There is a difference between tackling with ill-intent (2 actions, feet off the ground, slinging/head first motion) and a solid tackle. Unfortunately the precedent has been set by the MRO so far this year where players are missing games as a result of the outcome of a tackle instead of the tackle itself.

In this case Butler cannot miss a week or there are serious issues. Blakey’s lack of awareness and even lack of voice from his team mates to get rid of the pill more of a concern in this instance.
• Single motion tackle
• Didn’t drive head into ground
• No slinging action
• No concussion/injury to Blakey

Same tackle as Close on Dawson, who ridiculously missed a week. Expect the idiots to do the same here.

That's fd if he misses any games for that! Can't bump, can't tackle to the ground, what are you supposed to do?

Apparently now if you're caught dead-to-rights holding the ball, you can now just touch your head on the ground, stay down to make sure the umpire notices and collect the ball back.

Absolute howler of a decision. The AFL simply can't keep pretending that they can have 1000 tackles every week and not have some where a player's head makes contact with the ground. Reducing congestion and therefore the number of tackles is the only way.

He should have gone the bump as the tackle is clearly much more dangerous........
Or with the amount of prior Blakey had, he could have just held him until the ump blew the whistle for htb, instead of dragging him down.

The afl do not want you bringing players to ground that can't protect themselves

Are you saying this is what Blakey did or are you just whinging in general?

Have you ever played football, and if so, have you ever performed a chase down tackle from behind?

You’re not serious surely. Blakey was caught ret hot holding the ball. The umpire panicked and awarded Sydney a free. If the correct call was made which was HTB no one would be talking about this

They're not my rules, it's what the AFL wants, it's how they've instructed umps to adjudicate tackles.

Yes it's cooked but that's how they want it done. Adapt or cop suspensions
