Campbell Kellaway may have overtaken Teague Wyllie as the best of our next gen. What a pity CA did not see fit to live stream this game. Cant find even a short video of the Kellaway century. Thanks a bunch CA. Next time dont put your name in front of the X1.

They showed the scores on 7 yesterday and all Tim Lane talked about was the SA bowlers and Elgar making a hundred. Nothing about Kellaway making a hundred.

This game will be interesting for a few reasons:
1) Whether the 3/4-quick + Maharaj onslaught lives up to its billing
2) Which SA quick looks most dangerous
3) Fitness levels of SA quick (applicable to Nortje/Jansen/Ngidi in particular)
4) Whether the SA spinner is taken to
5) Any surprising AUS A batsman holding off the pace onslaught
6) Any relatively less renowned (e.g. not Elgar or the absent Petersen) SA batsman stealing the show

1) Yes and no. They looked decidedly less dangerous when the ball got old, though Jansen/Nortje have never been consistent.
2) Ngidi.
3) Don't seem to have any issues.
4) No, he wasn't.
5) Kellaway looks like a terrific find.
6) Verreyne. van der Dussen was also a bit more proactive than usual.

Disappointing matches for Whiteman, Ward and Clayton. Although, would have been interesting to see how Renshaw went if he got picked in this match instead of the PMXI match against the West ndies.
Agree,at this stage you would think Harris would be in front of Renshaw if another opener was required as he is all ready in the 13/14 man test squad.BUT if Renshaw had played in this current game v SA and done well perhaps the selectors might have had a re think.

Hopefully Teague Wyllie can get a score here, never realised he is only 18 and all ready has a shield ton to his name.

Yes he is a pup. Both he and Kellaway played in the same Under 19s side last year. Kellaway is now 20 so quite a difference in ages between these two prospects.
Has only batted in first innings. His name keeps being pushed down the batting order. Has he been injured.

Oh, I somehow missed that Street replaced him in the second innings.

Easy to miss as it is not being live streamed and should be. When young prospects, such as Ward, Kellaway, Neil-Smith, Wyllie have the chance to show their wares at international level, they deserve to be sent the correct signal that they are valued.

Wyllie still eligible for the Aust U/19 side.....will no doubt be captain of the Aust side as well.....the State U/19 Champs are coming up soon....can see Wyllie scoring big there......hope he pushes on in his current innings v SA and matches Kellaway's ton in the first.

I think the importance of this game for Australia is not to win it but give these young players a chance to bat against a good attack and you most likely will not see Kellaway or Doran bat to lower in the order if required today. You would think Neil-Smith,Ward might be next in.The sad fact is shield cricket has stopped early December and does not start again till February next year.Hopefully these young blokes in this team do not play to much Big Bash Cricket and better they play local cricket back at their clubs.

My read on this is that if you can survive their new ball onslaught, there's some runs to be had.

I don't know who's going to be their Duminy* this time, if any.

*Weird player. He was generally substandard but pulled out his inner Laxman/Ramprakash against us.

A big underachiever. Was averaging big numbers in domestic when picked but never lived up to his billing except against Australia.

van der Dussen has disappointed me at test level but this is a big chance for him to deliver in conditions that should suit him.

Our conditions will suit all Saffas as yes, Aussie pitches and conditions are similar to theirs. We have always enjoyed playing each other in regular reciprocal series from as way back as 1992 when they returned to the Test fold after their banning for Apparteid. Then the Aussie leg stopped abruptly back in 16/17 when the SA board refused to send a team here at Christmas/New year. As they are mostly Christian themselves and having to be away from family at this spiritual time, this was a fair call in my book. But it sure pi**ed off CA. Anyway their board has had a chance of mind and after amost seven years hiatus they are again touring our shores at Chrissie time. Good on 'em.
Can you imagine the uproar in Australia if we decided to tour there in their xmas time. Can not remember the last time there was no Boxing Day Test against another country in Australia.Perhaps the SA board has changed their mind because of the money the ACB has promised them.

Didnt SA make a big deal about having their own boxing day test then dump it a few years later?
